Quite frankly, this is nothing but a freak show.
What's is hoped for is Sorenstam somehow embarrassing the 'Boys Club' by showing up somewhere on the Leader Board.
If not, this "experiment" was an abject failure for merelythe excuse and precursor to obliterate any remaining reasons for maintaining a separate Mens/Ladies Room tradition...

Yes, that is my contention. As long as there are sponsor exemptions, then I think whoever gets them has earned being there. And leaving it as a disagreement is fine.

The only eagle put I ever made I was just praying that I could just luck up and get it inside 10 feet.

The only 'loser' is people like you who can't get over their prejudices. Like anyone who plays golf? The sport recognizes that women are different from men and gives them different tees to hit from accordingly. Seems like you have been brainwashed by the left.

I was not aware that she had a men's handicap. Could you please tell us what it is?

I never realized you were a fuddy duddy.
Its an exemption man, sponsors privlage, get over it already. Under the circumstances, she played great.

US Open courses are beyond hard and can vary drastically from day to day. I confess I don't watch a lot of LPGA tournaments but, if today's round was representative of her game, she might even be more impressive in an Open (again, if the course were not monstrously long). She is so consistent that she wouldn't have to worry much about long rough.
She's a darlin' and thank goodness her two young playing partners were gracious gentlemen.

True. There is a sucker born every minute....

now tied for 75th place Where do you get your updates? The leaderboard on the Yahoo sports site is about 3 holes behind the action.

But she had a 15-25 ft putt for birdie on almost every hole. Since she has to use the 4 iron and aim for the green (while the guys hit 7 irons for the flag), this is to be expected. If she can start hitting a few long putts, she's a leader-board contender.

Everyone who went out this morning is now done. Here's how it stacks up:
65: 1 player
66: 1
67: 8
68: 12
69: 7
70: 6
71: 10
72: 5
73: 2
74: 1
75: 1
76: 2
So 39 finished ahead of Annika and 10 finished behind her. She'd have looked a whole lot better at 69; dropping those two shots took her over the top of the curve and down the backside.

If she can start hitting a few long putts, she's a leader-board contender. A lot of people could win if they could "start" hitting 25 foot putts. That is a BIG IF.

If she can start hitting a few long putts, she's a leader-board contender. That's a tall order. An earlier post indicated that players make about 10-20% of their putts outside of 15 feet.
To: Teacher317
It's beginning to look like she'll need to be 2 under tomorrow....not an easy task.

And all those men that ARE competing on the Tour that finished under her have showed you what?
