"650 votes either way out of 24 million cast! I demand a recount..just kidding"They just mentioned on the evening news here in Raleigh that the 1300 number was wrong. The difference was 130,000+. Still about an RCH's difference out of 24 million.
With that said, I'll weigh in. It was fixed pure and simple. Josh alluded to that a week ago. Asked who would win between the remaining two he said that Clay should win but Rueben will win because the producers and judges have been giving him the big push. Also, Simon slammed a black girl named Frenchy early on saying she had a terrific voice but she was too fat and she didn't fit the "image" they were looking for. He seemed to forget what he said when Rueben appeared on stage. Does it matter? No. It's just a show and those that made it to the final 4 or 5 will be swept up by the fans of each of their different genres (did I say that right?).
I got the distinct impression that losing would personally effect the Rubester more than it would effect Clay. I thought Clay would win because Rueben's voice was going to hell in the last three weeks and it sounded horrible tonite when he sang his final song (I could chalk that up to emotion, though) but I'm happy for Rueben. I just hope he drops some pounds before he passes out and falls on Kelly Clarkson while on tour.
When does the next Survivor start?

SBC blaming the overload on several factors. Millions upon millions of calls were made over the normal amount. On top of those who were trying to vote, they say that many many people call family and friends to discuss the show while it's on the air.
Given the pre-ordained outcome I guess they didn't care if people got thru or not.

Well I'm going to try out for the next one if the auditions come to Chicago. Then maybe we'll have a conservative American Idol.Considering that Clay and Ruben have been holding prayer circles together before every show for the past ten weeks, I don't think either of them are going to be going the Martin Sheen route.

"I thought for a second that he was Julie Andews! He also reminds me of the lead singer for the band Radio Head. If you blend the two together, you've basically got Clay."
Whatever. I think you could say that about last year's runner up, Justin what's his name. He's kind of girly too if you ask me. But entertainers, they get away with being different. Clay, Justin, Ruben, Kelly...they seem like nice young people I think that's the the main thing.

Yeah, but none of us here in NC got to vote at ALL. That's not fair.

and the ever popular "Rueben, the finals would not be complete without you."
I agree with Simon's comments 97.8% of the time. When he told Trynece she look like a drag queen after she did one of her best numbers and told Clay he was "horrible" after he sang Grease (I gave it a B). He was way over the top. Can be a good critic and not take such personal exaggerated shots.

That is pretty neat and a nice gesture to release both records of Reuben and Clay the same week to acknwledge how close the vote was, and im sure Reuben wont mind that CLay sells more records

only a 1,300 vote difference out of 24 million or so cast, that's a statistical tie, and they should have given the title to both of them.
I said on yesterdays thread I wish it would be a tie, I knew ugliness would surface and I didn't want that here ;(

Clay got robbed. Everybody I knew was for Clay. All the hype was for Ruben. I couldn't get through. I think this is my last round of AI. I'll stick with Clay but the vote was not representative if Ruben won by 130K votes. There's no way that was possible unless his callers got through and like me, Clay's didn't. Did anybody voting for Ruben have trouble voting? I bet not.

Thank you for a voice of reason. The same race baiters on this thread are no better than Jesse Jackson's hysterics The blatant racism on this thread is nothing short of frightening. DUers will be linking to this hatefest for the next two years any time they need to "prove what slimeballs Freepers are."

Clay has NEVER been "horrible."
I can't say the same for some of the other contestants.
To: Howlin
Oh but you are. I'm not going away now. Sorry your North Carolina person did not win. Sorry the white person did not win. It's got to be one of those...else why would you care. What investment do you have in this. I have none but now you've got me p&*sed.

BAMA

If those of us who tried so many times to get through, the count would certainly have been different. And while I'm thinking about it, how in thunder was Rubin's mom able to get through 100 times in 3 hours?
To: Timesink
So Reuben won? I was for him, but I watched the ACM's and the Bachelor instead.

All of this racial overweight stuff really doesn't apply to entertainers. They make a living selling their personality, talent and physical appearance.
In reality they are only clowns and jesters meant to give us diversion, inspiration and escape. We will pay them well, just like all of our other prostitutes.
You are not bigoted or mean spirited if you do not like Roo's wieght or race (he doesn't care). He is an item for sale. Like or dislike him for whatever reason you choose (I promise..he doesn't care).
You should be able to feel free to express exactly how you feel. As long as he sells his CD's he won't mind at all...not for now anyway.
Having said all that, he sounded lousy tonight. He was off key and sounded very tired, especially the last song.
To: Carolinamom
Ruben's brother said he got through 150 times last week.
