Now Randy was a charismatic guy. I walked away from American Idol thinking that Simon, though generally logical, was an unnecessarily rude guy. Paula is an idiot. But Randy I'd like to see more of.
Think of Simon's pparting comment. He insulted both of the finalists. He told Ruben he was the one with the least talent between them and he told Clay he was glad Ruben won. He did it all in the comment: "America got it right. This was image over talent." That was unnecessary. The show was over.

>Of course the call volume went up dramatically. That does not mean that lines for Clay were "shut off."
We have four of us here. Three of us wanted to vote for Clay and one of uus for Ruben. It took a total of about 150 auto-redial calls for three of us to register three votes. It took the one Ruben voter ten tried to get through with a vote for Ruben. Meanwhile, Rubens brother admitted to voting 350 times. How?

Perspective everybody.. It's just a show. I'm reluctant to buy into the conspiracy theory.
I think Clay is MUCH more talented, but the people voting don't necessarily know TALENT. THey are average normal everyday people, and the big teddy bear guy won their hearts.
Clay is much better off out from under the "strings" as someone posted last nite .. I'll follow his career.
To: JustPiper
Thank you. (humbled by your comment)

All in all I enjoyed the show and the outcome was good. Clay seems a very humble guy and I agree that he will be famous. I just prefer his style over Ruben, even though I did enjoy Ruben. He is a crooner and that is what I like. I have always loved ballads, I adore Bon Jovi!
However one irk. The voting. Many people would vote for Clay or get a busy and then see if Rubens line was free hence giving him votes if they got through.
I think the voting needs to be internet based with one vote per IP address.
All in all I am glad I watched this show all along. We all need a diversion and this one was mine. I enjoyed so much of the music from the entire group.
Josh was missed last night.

After last night, 4 of the top 6 sellers on Amazon music are AI-related: Aiken (1), Studdard (2), Clarkson (5), AI2 Love Songs (6).

That I couldn't answer. I know that a lot of it is based on random luck. How the lines are laid out, how calls are switched at the main hub, where calls are coming from, etc. etc. If the vote had gone your way, would you be so quick to think it was fixed?
It really doesn't matter either way. Both will do very well. It's just a TV show. The Bilderbergers have bigger fish to fry.
To: JustPiper
That doesn't mean he rigged the voting, or did anything besides slanting his own on-air judging Hold up though Diva, you know Simon ended last nights show with "Clay, that last song just may have won you the competition!" Reverse psych mayhaps?Sorry, hubby need the internet again. Maybe you should check more carefully before you post - I didn't make that comment.
To: renosathug
>If the vote had gone your way, would you be so quick to think it was fixed?
No, I would have seen that on amazon.com, CXlay's single was number one while Ruben's was number 386 and realized that "America" wanted Clay to win, so he did.
>It really doesn't matter either way. Both will do very well. It's just a TV show. The Bilderbergers have bigger fish to fry.
That's for sure. I have only recently begun to watch television at all and I made an effort to doo that because my family was sitting in the den watching together while I isolated myself reading, talking on the phone or being on the internet alone. That's what's particularly frustrating about this show. I made a serious effort to stay with it only to find that I'd been duped, which is what I had always believed about TV shows anyway.
Oh well. Back to my previous delemna which is: "Do the muslim fanatics actually have a specific goal other than the creation of global caos?" It really doesn't matter either way. Both will do very well. It's just a TV show. The Bilderbergers have bigger fish to fry.

His weight may have something to do with his pitch problem, too. Abdominal breathing is probably very difficult for him. Can you imagine? I'm an R&B singer in real life, and was not terribly impressed with the very short clip I heard on FNC (it was pitchy and forced) - the other guy actually sounded far more like a natural singer to me (and I love R&B, and typically prefer any soul singer to anyone else). So glad other people are noticing his pitch problems - guess the judges only heard it in other singers! :^) But yes, I agree, his weight could be contributing. Without the support system from his diaphragm working properly, he's throat singing and more likely to have all kinds of problems.
Aside from classical, I also did jazz for a while...if you missed the show - you missed Kimberley Locke - think you would have loved her. Deep, rich lower register, great range and with a little work, could be fabulous R&B/jazz performer. IMHO, she should have been in the final 2, not Ruben. I became hooked on the show because in recent years have done more coaching than performing, and love watching new talent being showcased...and this year they definitely had a few very talented kids.

I slept on it last night and have come to this conclusion.
Last night's results were the best possible outcome for each of them.
Ruben has a $1 million recording contract and Clay will now have his pick of different offers. Both of them will be successful.
They are good friends, Ruben and Clay, and we should just follow their example. Be happy for the winner, and keep supporting the one we like best by buying their albums. We can do nothing to change last night's results and to keep harping on it makes us look like sore losers.
I enjoy Clay's voice much more than Ruben's, but that is just my opinion. I'll respect those who disagree with me as they should respect me for my preference.

"Ruben has sounded lousy for several weeks. I don't think we paid that close attention to him at first because Clay and Kimberly Locke were coming on strong.
The man did not deserve to win and he and his family know it. That is not something good to live with."
Ok, I'm late with this comment, but I have to say this. We're talking about America, the country which has made a musical icon of the likes of Ja Rule (gag) a man who simply cannot sing on key, and whose voice is worse than fingernails on a blackboard. Clay has the talent, but he had MTV devotees casting the majority of the votes.
To: Celantro
Think of Simon's pparting comment. He insulted both of the finalists.I caught that too and it left a bad taste in my mouth. Truly unnecessary and cheap.

So glad other people are noticing his pitch problemsOne of the morning shows played a bit of 'Superstar' and each note was a quarter of a cycle flat. I was truly annoyed and found myself comparing his performance to Clay who has excellent pitch.
