O'Reilly Seeks to Destroy Georgia Republican Governor

Posted on 05/06/2003 5:58:32 PM PDT by faithincowboys

Tonight, Bill has continued his jihad against Georgia Republican Governor Sonny Perdue. O'Reilly, who recently made what many considered an anti-black remark, has launched a full frontal assault on Perdue.

Inexplicably, Bill O blames the GOP Gov for an all-white private prom that recently occured in Baldwin County Georgia. Of course, if the Governor could prevent the white kids from having a private prom, we would be living in a totalitarian state.

Bill is clearly seeking to destroy Perdue to deflect from his racially insensitive faux pas.

Perdue's Black Female Press Secretary was on The Factor tonight and Bill was rude and hostile to her, it kinda made you think that if Bill were throwing a private party at his big Long Island digs (why doesn't he live closer to work in a more diverse area?) he wouldn't invite her unless she agreed to hold a serving tray all night.

Georgia is all ready in a state of racial tension, due to the flag issue, Bill's attempt to destroy Georgia's first Republican Governor since Reconstruction is, without a doubt, an assault on the GOP.

We should all let O'Reilly know how we feel about this. Also, when O'Reilly's young daughter becomes school age, we must demand that he sends her to a school in Harlem. The white kids who went to that prom attend a 55% African American majority high school and live more racially integrated lives than O'Reilly and his wealthy Long Island elitists ever have.

Were the kids morally wrong to exclude their balck peers from their private prom? Yes. Were they legally wrong? No. Does Sonny Perdue bear any culpability in the matter? Absolutely Not!

O'Reilly is now demanding that Perdue hold a press conference, go on The Factor, and/or go to this week's integrated prom.

I find O'Reilly's stance on this untenable and grotesque. Hobbling a Republican Governor (unfairly) driving up anti-Republican sentiment in the South (a region integral to Dubya's re-election) and galvanizing Southern Democrats is a clear sign that Bill is not on our team.

Maybe he's not on the D team either, perhaps, he is on his own team-- in a very Clintonian way. His jihad against Georgia's Governor is to appease the NYC, DC chattering class who think he is a racist and suspect his Jesse Jackson fixation is rooted in racism.

In a suck up to his critics, Bill O has thrown an innocent man to the wolves. This is outrageous!

and persecuting 18 years olds that

After reading through this thread I have just a couple of things to add:

1) The whites at this school are the minority. According to the stories I've seen the students are 55% Black and 45% white. (That leaves no room for gray!) Isn't the basis for all of the unique "minority" only activities to allow them to network, socialize, feel comfortable, learn their culture, etc. These activities all for the minority to become more successful (supposedly). If that is the case then the minority students at this school did nothing different than the minority students at any school.

2) A point about Dave's question regarding the difference between the Klan march and these students prom. One clear difference is that the Gov't allows the Klan march by issuing a lisence or permit. The liscence or permit wasn't necessary for the prom. Generally, from memory only, when I see the stories about Klan gatherings I rarely ever see statements from local or state politicians. Why should the Governor respond to this prom issue if we rarely expect politicians to respond to Klan marches?

Not liked? I dunno. Boortz is already saying that he is a one-termer.

Perdue's election to the Governorship seems to have been completly unexpected by the GOP leadership. I'm not sure they even had a plan in place for the leadership takeover.

When Perdue immediately called for tax increases all I saw was red. How can he expect support from his base when a tax hike is his first order of business?

O'reilly should move on. I'd like to hear more about the MCI boycott.

Taxes on what?

I guess as long as the folks in Georgia vote R for Senate and President I am ok, but I would like to see the first Republican Governor since Reconstruction succeed.

Actually it turned out to be a good strategy. He forced the Dems to call for budget cuts. The only people upset are smokers and tobbacco wholesalers.

If he had proposed targeted budget cuts the political fallout would have been ten times as high.Notice he got no flack from teachers and state employees over the lack of raises. He has 3 more years. The AJC only has a circulation of 600,000 in a state of 7million.Boortz understands Atlanta but only flies over the rest of the state on his way to FL.

Maybe politicians dont respond to Klan marches in the South but they sure did in the North where I am originally from. Politicians used to frequently speak out against Nazis and Klan members marching in suburban Chicago for example. Sorry your politicians either feel an affinity or ambivalence towards the Klan. Guess if you represent Stone Mountain...

So explain why A Raisin in The Son is based in Chicago. Explain why ghettoes were built vertically to the sky to minimize the footprint, rather than allow blacks to move into white neighborhoods. I never remember California politicians denouncing Klan marches. They disagreed but generally didn't have a presser to say they disagreed.

When Klan members have gone on Talk shows, I don't remember any politicans coming out and saying, "I disagree with the Klan member from our area that screamed racial slurs and slugged his sister who dates black guys on Jerry Springer last week."

It just doesn't happen and you are living in a fantasy world-- do you really need to engage in Gephardtesqe mendacity to try (and I stress try) to win a debate?

Actually, I was referring to any of the coverage that gets national attention regarding Klan marches. I can't recall any media outlet calling for a Governor to denounce the Klan's points of view. I can't recall any politicians being interviewed denouncing them. Here in the Motor City I don't recall ever having the Klan march (they wouldn't last to long), so I haven't experienced the reaction of politicians.

I don't believe that any politician should be required to speak out against the Klan. The bottom line is that any rational american realizes that the racism displayed by them is ridiculous. If a Gov. or Pres. were to speak out against the Klan, my opinion would be that that official recognizes them as something legitimate that needs to be refuting.

Bill O'R is right - the governor should say that this type of stuff is terrible and that the kids and their families should be ashamed of themselves.

Chirac? I think the U.N. Human Rights Commmision needs to issue a statement!

I've been watching him since he started and quit about two or three weeks ago. He's just gotten a little to authoritarian for me. He clams to support the constitution until you hear his stance on some things and then he advocates the Feds just moving in and taking over.

Sounds like you have been doing that. Your theory seems to be as long as you can find one example of a Northerner or a liberal that has done and said the same thing that you want to get a way with at some point in the past twenty years, its okay for you. Thats kind of like it depends on what the definition of is, is. Bye, I've had it with knocking my head against an immovable object. Pity since you have sometimes agreed that what they did was wrong just not worthy of anyone like Perdue to criticise. Oh well, have a pleasant life.

These days its typically not needed. There is common agreement that the Klan sucks. It would be like a Governor feeling that he needed to denounce child molestation. There is common agreement that molestation is not to be tolerated.

Exactly my point. All reasonable people believe that Racism is wrong. Therefore, it is not a requirement that the government denounce it. By denouncing it then we give some credibility to Racism as a view that had some legitimacy. I figure if we ignore the racists then they will eventually be "evolutionized" out of existance.

However, the child molestation comparison is a bit of a stretch. Racism is as objectionable, however child molestation is a crime that is punishible by prison terms. I don't know of anyone sitting in jail due to racism alone. Racism will lead to the actions that get you landed in jail........

I saw some of this last night and it was O'Reilly at his worst. This should be a nonstory and in typical O'Reilly fashion he is spotlighting it and making a mountain out of a mole hill.

Gee Bill...what's next? Does every private party have to be integrated? I suppose you want all governors to regulate private parties and insure that they are PC.

Absolutely disgusting. I had to turn him off. I do that a lot. Kudlow and Cramer is much more interesting.
