I can't recall any media outlet calling for a Governor to denounce the Klan's points of view.

These days its typically not needed. There is common agreement that the Klan sucks. It would be like a Governor feeling that he needed to denounce child molestation. There is common agreement that molestation is not to be tolerated.

Exactly my point. All reasonable people believe that Racism is wrong. Therefore, it is not a requirement that the government denounce it. By denouncing it then we give some credibility to Racism as a view that had some legitimacy. I figure if we ignore the racists then they will eventually be "evolutionized" out of existance.

However, the child molestation comparison is a bit of a stretch. Racism is as objectionable, however child molestation is a crime that is punishible by prison terms. I don't know of anyone sitting in jail due to racism alone. Racism will lead to the actions that get you landed in jail........
