A Few of FR's Finest..... ......Every Day
FR is a Treasure Trove of talented, compassionate, patriotic, wonderful people who gather every day to discuss the latest news and issues; salute and support our military and our leaders; tell a few jokes; learn a new word; write poetry; pray for those in need; and congratulate those who are deserving. Thank you, Jim Robinson, for giving us the vehicle in which we can express ourselves.
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. I can remember lurking when there were only a few regulars who posted, and now there are over 60,000 who have registered for posting privileges. The forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.

A Few of FR's Finest November 11, 2001
So many people have written me since my original Veteran's Day Tribute, asking how they, or a loved one, could be included in that tribute. Since I can no longer add the photos to the body of the thread, I've been including them in additional posts as I received enough to make another collage.
Still that doesn't seem to be enough. I think there's never been a better nor more appropriate time to keep the faces of our own Veterans and Active Military in front of FReepers--every day! That's why I wanted to do yet another Daily Thread .....ABOUT FReepers .....and FOR FReepers. But not only about our Military FReepers; for all FReepers! Wouldn't it be nice to get to know a few of the other FReepers as well? That's why, in addition to seeing FR's Finest Military Personnel every day, I thought it might be fun to feature a different FReeper (or FReepers) each day. If you would like to be pictured, or know someone who would, please FReepmail me and we'll turn the spotlight - on YOU - for the day!
And do let me know if you'd like your picture added to the groups of Veterans/Active Military below. I will keep this page updated, and continue to add them to the comment section of the original Veteran's Day thread as well.

Ever seen a more pathetic bunch?
by JohnHuang2
Not to beat a dead horse, but have you ever seen a more pathetic bunch? Speaking here of the liberal Democrats.
Nothing seems to go their way; Quagmirists keep hoping and searching for quagmire, but keep coming up empty. The huge Shi'ite pilgrimage to Karbala will get out of control and end in bloodbath, many leading Quagmirists gleefully predicted last week. Didn't happen. A critical meeting in Baghdad Monday put Iraq on track towards a transitional government in less than a month -- again, dashing the hopes of leading Quagmirists. If that wasn't bad enough, Saddam's birthday was also on Monday, but AFP reports "joyous crowds in Baghdad," in a blow to Quagmirist theory, "showed their scorn" for Iraq's deposed dictator, "mocking his birthday by dressing up a donkey as the fallen strongman and giving him a cake made of excrement."
Had enough? Well, there's more. Over the weekend, "documents discovered in the bombed out headquarters of Iraq's intelligence service" provided "evidence of a direct link between Saddam Hussein's regime and Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda terrorist," reports the Associated Press, citing the U.K.'s Sunday Telegraph. Liberals, jolted at the bombshell, attempted to regroup, cobbling up various cop-out defenses for Saddam (it's Bush who's chummy with al-Qaeda, not Saddam!), but then came Tuesday and another nabbing by U.S. forces in Baghdad.
Nailed this time? Some operative (name withheld) working under al-Qaeda big fish Abu Musab Zarqawi. Well, there goes the Lefty theory that Bush, under the spell of a 'Jewish cabal' -- Cheney, Powell, Rummy and Condi masquerading as Protestants -- concocted the whole Saddam-al-Qaeda connection to sully poor Saddam's good name and reputation and justify war on Iraq. Oh, and to give Bush a bump in the polls.
Amid reports that triumphant Bush is set to announce an end to hostilities this Thursday aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln, Democrats -- frustrated, disheartened, dispirited, dismayed -- are lashing out.
Ba'ath loyalist Hillary Clinton *lost it* Monday night. In an angry outburst before a Democrat gathering in Connecticut, she bitterly accused Bush of everything but the SARS virus.
It's clear that Democrats aren't coping too well in the wake of the ouster of Saddam Hussein's regime.
"Two weeks after Baghdad's fall, shock has given way to perplexity in the liberal world," writes David Lamb in a special report to the Baltimore Sun newspaper Sunday.
"Democrats," he adds, "seem at a loss to respond to the reality of a U.S.-run Iraq or to formulate a strategy that may help shape the post-Saddam Hussein era. Despite hand-wringing over the suffering of Iraqis," ... "there is little talk [among Democrats] about what role [liberals] may play in reconstruction. No Democrat dares mention the word democracy when [contemplating] a new Iraqi government. Even [liberal] columnists are uncomfortable asking whether the war may bring beneficial change to the Middle East."
"[Democrat] writers would be reluctant to express that idea, even if they believed it, which most don't," Mr. Lamb quotes a "influential daily newspaper" editor saying.
During the war, CNN and other Leftist outlets were "promoting false hope, giving the idea Iraq could win," Lamb writes, quoting a liberal economist. "But you could tell from Day 1 looking at the maps Iraq had no chance."
Liberal media journalists, said the Leftie economist, "don't think in a pragmatic way. They are full of wishful thinking. That comes after suffering one defeat after another for so many years, and that string of defeats hasn't yet come to an end, I'm afraid."
"And anger echoes," says Mr. Lamb, "over Hussein's discarded promise to make a valiant defense of his capital."
Oops, hold on a sec....Oh, no -- I did it again, FReepers! Mr. Lamb was writing about 'Arabs', not "liberals" and "Democrats." I know, I know, I said I'd be careful not to make such typos again....but ;)
Anyway, that's...
My two cents

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

God Bless Our Military
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Below are names of some of our FReepers' loved ones who are serving our country. If you have someone you would like to add, please address a post to Billie; Daisyscarlett; Dansangel; Dutchess; Mama_Bear; and we will add their name to this list. As we pray for them, we pray also for all our nations leaders, and military personnel, and their families and friends. May God hold them close to His heart.
~~~~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~
We ask Lord, that You guide the leaders of our great country in their hour of decision. The burden that has been placed on their shoulders is overwhelming. We ask that with Your infinite wisdom You guide them gently to the right decisions.
Please give us the strength, Lord, to get through each difficult and devastating day that faces each of us and our country. Protect and guide our Military that are now being called to duty, strengthen them in their trials and temptations; give them courage to face the perils which beset them; and grant them a sense of your abiding presence wherever they may be; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

North Korea: Another Proof The Planet Has Shifted
Because of the United States President George W. Bush and allies, the planet will never be the same. One ripple affect after another is revealing itself. It is verifiable in in-your-face world events.
The Korean peninsula situation is an immediate result of Iraqi Freedom, as are other global sites. The Korean talks presently taking place are a direct result of the three-week win war in Iraq.
Again, the US-led coalition did not seek the worlds love. As a major spin of the Iraqi war, the coalition demanded and got the worlds respect. Bush and colleagues are determined to see that respect through on major and minor levels. The free, sane world should applaud loudly, consistently.
With South Korean delegates in Pyongyang demanding that North Korea abandon its nuclear agenda, the critical pressure continues. Washington, of course, is smack in the middle. The result? Pyongyang states it wont make any guarantees of a nuclear-free North Korea unless Bush guarantees a non-aggression treaty.
Right on, Bush! Right on, US-led coalition! Right on, Iraqi Freedom three-week win war.
Right out, France. Right out, Germany. Right out, Russia. Right out, UN. And stay right out for Iraqi Freedom has proven you are more deterrent than help. You are more frustration than assistance. You are more for your own gain than the liberty of others.
Iraqi Freedom has cut everything in half the right and the left, the true and the false, the self-giving and the self-serving. The planet shift has taken place and will never return to what it was.
May the world free and still captive never forget that it was the tenacity of a President George W. Bush who saw the matter through. Of course, there were the friends, but there would have been no stand-by friends if Bush had not stood alone on principle to see the matter start and finish.
Consequently, South Korea is demanding the North Koreans guarantee a nuclear-free peninsula. The North Koreans, like some others we have found out in recent days, know how to lie in major degree. Such fact is forcing itself out as a sore boil on the globes flesh. With that, there surely are those with the power to lance it.
In Beijing last week, a North Korean told a US official that North Korea has atomic weapons that might be tested or sold or used. What would eventuate would all depend on the United States response to those facts!
North Korea stated today that it will again reiterate its "new, bold" proposition to the United States, according to South Korean spokesman Shin Eun-sang. South Korean is putting on the pressure at this moment to force North Korean into truth declarations and a pro-anti-nuclear stance; however, North Korea goes back to its statement that it all depends on Washington.
"We made it clear that we can never accept North Korea's possession of nuclear weapons," Shin said. "We emphasized that the North should dismantle nuclear weapons, if it had any, as well as its nuclear facilities," according to the Associated Press.
In other words, it all depends on Bush and colleagues, as much has been depending on Bush and colleagues in the past crucial months due to the planet having shifted markedly because of Bush and colleagues.

Jesus' War With The Enemy
It was that stark bony look. Calvary was smitten. Its face was just as we had been told in Scripture: rocky and dented with eye sockets, protruded with a nose-shape and vacant as a stare of death.
Along with other tourists, we trudged up the mountain, cameras in hand.
Three scrubby trees were at the very top. There Priscilla sat on some twisted tall grass spikes as I focused her in direct center of the photo. I imagined that that is where the crosses would have been punched in God's otherwise good earth.
It was a hot day.
It was time to leave the Place of the Skull--Golgotha.
In the valley was the Garden Tomb. We meandered toward it, in no hurry, sensing a reverential cast to all of nature. Greenery was everywhere. Bundles of flowering buds peered up to greet us. Sunshine filled all the gaps.
Slowly I made my way to Joseph of Arimathea's empty gravesite. It was carved out of the hillside. A trough had been dug in front of its beautifully crude stone door. Inside that trough the weighty rock slab would have been rolled to seal shut the entrance. No entrance. No exit. Tight. Any corpse inside was there for good, or whatever.
Robbers would have stolen from the tombs if the stone had not been secured.
I walked inside. There was no rock slab now to prohibit. The morning air welcomed my back to keep me moving till inside that resting-place. My eyes adjusted to see the remains of shelves where bodies would have been positioned.
There I pictured His young frame wrapped in clothes, spices tucked in about the sorry piece. A separate cloth would have been wound about his head.
I suppose there were others making the same interior pilgrimage as I. But I don't recall any shadows but my own.
Timeless. It seemed as if I had left time and had no desire to return.
But time called out its practicality. With that, I was in the sun again, milling about the many as we hunkered down on rocks and patches of grass to receive the sacrament.
There was no reason to chat. No one wanted to chat. There was too much going on inside--not so much noise but voices from another time and friends from another culture than ours.
There was simply no way around it. One could not get to the dawn of the first day without going through the trudge up Skull's Mount, then making it into the valley where an empty borrowed tomb stood awaiting the gaping and the saved.
Sometimes in spring when I walk about Maine's Lakes Region, I get that same feeling from the sun, especially when near a garden.

Faith's Blossom First
With Easter past
'Tis open wide
E'en more than when
It dawned this year
For Jesus 'live
Within my heart
O'erwhelmed me then
And still holds dear.
My soul is filled
To maximum
With Jesus bold
As blossoms burst
And skies rich blue--
Eternity's run--
So as to hold
Faith's blossom first.
