The best thing we could do is not say a thing, they want us to bitch about this in order to lure away Southern voters from the Republican party. The last thing we want to do is trash the Democratic party at the expense of the South. I dont think this happend by accident, I think they are actually hopeing we raise hell about this.

Making an issue of this is PC run wild. James Longstreet was a lifelong friend of his West Point classmate Ulysses Grant. After the Civl War, he alienated diehard defenders of the Lost Cause by becoming a Republican. His postwar defense of his own conduct at Gettysburg was regarded as disloyalty to Robert E. Lee by the diehard Confederates.

It is not Longstreet Theater but instead Longstreet Theatre (they use the Southron spelling). And the article fails to note that it is on the University of South Carolina campus.

Historic Longstreet Theatre

This familiar campus landmark,built along the lines of a Roman temple, was designed originally as a chapel and auditorium before the Civil War. During the building's colorful history it has sevred as a Civil War military hospital, state legislature meeting site, arsenal and armory, science facility, and gymnasium. In 1976 the building was remodeled to an arena theatre (theatre in the round).
