Most gun owners need to disassociate themselves from the extremists

[history]
As a gun owner, hunter and sportsman, I'm concerned about a common misperception: the belief that gun owners are a monolithic body of people who all march to the tune of the National Rifle Association.
As legislators debate the measure that would put more concealed, loaded handguns onto our streets, they should not assume that most gun owners would be happy with a looser permitting system. Some very misguided policies are propounded in our names, and many common-sense measures that would protect all of us are never enacted -- all out of fear that gun owners will exact their revenge at the polls if our interests are not defended.

It's time for gun owners to disassociate ourselves from the extremists who argue that any attempt to sensibly regulate firearms takes us down the slippery slope toward confiscation. There is no threat to losing our right to own guns for sport. Uh, dude, you just made our point for us - you would deny us the right to self-defense with your attempts to "sensibly" regulate firearms, and instead just allow us to hunt deer. The 2nd Amendment isn't about hunting season...

It's time for gun owners to disassociate ourselves from the extremists who argue that any attempt to sensibly regulate firearms takes us down the slippery slope toward confiscation. There is no threat to losing our right to own guns for sport. Yea, tell that to the former shooting clubs in England.
It is us "extremists" who will make sure you do have that right, as well as out right to defend ourselves.
These idiots are the worst of gun owners. They are elitists.

This guy has no concept of what the Constitution is all about. He would have a hissy fit if someone wanted to License what the Press was allowed to report, but has no trouble with the State or the Feds restricting our rights according to Ammendment #2.
The guy is a waste of good oxygen.

It's time for gun owners to disassociate ourselves from the extremists who argue that any attempt to sensibly regulate firearms takes us down the slippery slope toward confiscation. There is no threat to losing our right to own guns for sport. Two points to make here. Gun ownership is not about sport. It's about self-defense, both as an individual, and philosophically as a nation. Second point: you cannot disassociate yourself from something that does not exist. The extremist gunowner (i.e. the character in "Tremors") is a concoction of the left. I know many gunowners who are collectors and hunters, who belong to the NRA, and support second amendment as written. They have not built bunkers under their homes, they don't own (nor do they appear to desire to own) automatic weapons, high explosive weapons, or any of the "banned" weaponry typically depicted in this mischaracterization.
I give this article a Clintoon era second amendment encroachment barf. 8^P

The rest of us do not support the notion that our community will be safer with thousands more gun-toting citizens carrying concealed, loaded handgunsBut the right to download thousands of porn pics is a necessary right.

Suggested replacements for the title of this artile:
- Standard Form Anti-Gun Editorial (#17, Us vs Them)
[NOTE to Editor: Change title before publication. May be used as an Op-Ed if you can find a local "gun owner" to sign off on it.]
- The Cowardly Hunter
- Divide and Conquer
- Take My Guns, Just Please Don't Hurt Me
- The Second Amendment: It IS About Duck Hunting

Yep.
Wonder what this guy will be thinking when PETA follows him into the woods disturbing his hunt? Will he look for the help of some "extremists" to help in the fight?
Guys like this are called "Fudds" after Elmer Fudd.

"Sportsman and hunter" Bob Johnson will someday learn that we gun owners must hang together or we will hang separately.
The anti-firearms crowd will never relent until our arms are listed, confiscated and former owners are political prisoners.

I doubt that the guy who wrote the article is really a hunter at all. Not that hunting has anything to do with the second ammendment.
He just tried to mis-represent himself as "a member of the Gun Club" thinking that he would not be totally transparent.
What a Jerk!

I'd bet this guy doesn't own a rifle, just a $25,000 over-and-under trap gun.
