Trudeau insults Christians in Easter Day Doonesbury cartoon
Doonesbury Cartoon ^

On Easter of all days, Gary Trudeau uses his Doonesbury cartoon to insult Christians in general, and George Bush's faith in particular. How quick the liberals are to condemn someone else's faith and belief system, but just let a Christian say anything negative about another's belief system and how quick they are to invoke an injunction against "judgementalism."

it's interesting...if it were an insult against buddhism, hinduism, islam, or christianity, then it's printed. but if it's an insult against judaism, then you'll never see it in print.
would the infamous photo "art" of a piss christ have been printed if it were a piss star of david? nada.

The Tennessean, alias Pravda on the Cumberland, got rid of BC ...
What a coincidence! We've got the "Pravda West" over here in the St.Petersbug, FL area (St.Pete's Times). Wonder if they're co-owned? Worse we're also home to the Poynter Institute - a breeding ground for young "progressive" newsie wannabes. Barf (sorry - couldn't help it).

I actually wrote Trudeau a sarcastic letter during the Clintoon Administration, berating him for not using the ample material provided by C and his henchmen.
He wrote me back. He was highly indignant that I should question his impartiality.
Any FReeper who wants to get under his skin should clip that cartoon with a reference to the ample books which discount evolutionary THEORY, and the amount of lies which have been told in order to duct tape together the holes in Darwinism.
Add the cartoon where he blatantly lies about Jay Garner being an "arms manufacturer"

I didn't invent this conflict.
Sure you did. You used a very inflammatory (and inaccurate)title and added insult to injury by claiming an insult to creationism is an insult to the resurrection. You did this on EASTER of all days. Then, you admit, however inadvertantly, that there are, in fact, a large number of Christians who aren't creationists, meaning that you knew your inflammatory, inaccurate title was false as well.
Or do you think his insults were meant only for Bush, and not against those who share his (Bush's) worldview?
Gosh, and all this time, I thought Creationism was one variable in an overall worldview, that of Christianity.

A quick Google search of the whitehous.gov website reveals that Bush strongly supports investigations of stellar evolution. He's addressed evolution in 86 separate webpages (some of them duplicates, many of them political not scientific). Those pages include the NSF and NASA projects. So I'd say that the President probably believes in evolution. That makes this cartoon WRONG with regards not only to Creationists but also to the President.

They weren't homeless, they just couldn't get reservations at that busy time when the census was being taken. You would have to had read the Bible to know that. This could be Hillary's problem.
To: Hillary? Hell no!
If Trudeau wanted to comment on Christianity and/or Easter, he would do so quite directly, as he has on many other occasions.Seemed pretty direct to me.

Creation/God...REFORMATION(Judeo-Christianity)---secular-govt.-humanism/SCIENCE---CIVILIZATION!
Originally the word liberal meant social conservatives(no govt religion--none) who advocated growth and progress---mostly technological(knowledge being absolute/unchanging)based on law--reality... UNDER GOD---the nature of GOD/man/govt. does not change. These were the Classical liberals...founding fathers-PRINCIPLES---stable/SANE scientific reality/society---industrial progress...moral/social character-values(private/personal) GROWTH(limited NON-intrusive PC Govt/religion---schools)!
Evolution...Atheism-dehumanism---TYRANNY(pc/liberal/govt-religion/rhetoric)...
Then came the SPLIT SCHIZOPHRENIA/ZOMBIE/BRAVE-NWO1984 LIBERAL NEO-Soviet Darwin/ACLU America---the post-modern age of switch-flip-spin-DEFORMITY-cancer...Atheist secular materialists --- ANTI-CHRISTISM everday on the FreeRepublic ... Easter too !

Mat 5:11 Blessed are ye, when [men] shall revile you, and persecute [you], and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.
Luk 6:22 Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you [from their company], and shall reproach [you], and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake.

It is not possible to wholly believe the Bible, literally, and also believe in evolution.

So you're saying that Jesus lived with his parents until he was in his thirties?!? It is believed that Jesus' (earthly) father Joseph died before Jesus started his ministry.
And he took care of his mother while working as a carpenter.

A Sailor's Prayer by Bob Harrison
< / unsnip >
Id like to stand on topside and watch the moon upon the sea,
And wonder at the beauty, and how all things came to be,
The morning comes, the sun breaks through, another awesome sight,
To see the shimmer on the waves, like Your Eternal Light.
So when my cruise is over and I soar to heights unknown,
And I kneel before You, Lord, as You sit on Judgements Throne,
As You contemplate some small reward that you think applies to me,
Just assign me to Your fastest ship on Your Eternal Sea.

You seem to be really worked up over this -- even more than I am. I guess you would have been happier if my title had read "
Creationist Christians," but I do believe that Trudeau intended his message to be a veiled slur against the resurrection, and he is using an attack on Creationism as a vehicle to make his point. Since the resurrection is truly an essential dogma of all Christian belief, I contend that my title is accurate. You seem to think his decision to address this topic on the holiest day of the Christian year is only a coincidence, but I simply can't buy that.
I am sorry I got you so agitated. I do wish you a happy Easter and God's blessings.

Because I don't want my children to read this kind of garbage, I always discard the cartoon section. As soon as I pick up the Sunday paper, the cartoonns go in the trash, but this morning I noticed how many of the cartoons paid respect to the fact that today is Easter Sunday, so I started glancing through them.
____________________________________________________________
My how times have changed. I can still see my children sitting in the lap of their dad on Sunday morning as he read them the cartoons. They had no idea of what most of them were about but...they enjoyed the color pictures and they loved the idea of snuggling in their pj's with their dad reading to them making the stories come as alive as he could for their enjoyment. Back then the stories ALWAYS remembered whatever holiday it was and showed the families celebrating and praying as well. Our children remember that to this day. All good things are remembered. Happy Easter.

Mark 6.3 refers to Jesus as a carpenter. I don't think there is any mention of Joseph in all of Mark's Gospel.

I never have liked doonesbury...don't like trudeau's arrogance and self-righteousness, don't like his drawings (the characters all look like they need lessons on how to use mascara), don't like his pinko bias, don't like his inanity, don't like his wife, don't like his anti-Christian pro-satan stance. He may have a lot to answer for at the Great White Throne.
