Halle Berry says she thinks she's 'ugly'

Halle Berry solidified her place as one of the world's sexiest women with her role as Bond girl Jinx in "Die Another Day."

But the Oscar-winning actress (Monster's Ball) says she still doesn't see herself as a beautiful star.

"To be totally honest, most of the time I think I'm ugly," she told the German magazine Journal fur die Frau. "I see myself without makeup every morning and that's why I don't have illusions anymore. I certainly don't feel like a big star."

Berry added that being black still hinders her progress in Hollywood.

"For many film studios and directors skin color remains a problem. They don't believe that the audience will accept a black actor in the main role. These narrow-minded people underestimate the public and prevent advancement in the industry."

Berry's next film will be "X-2," the sequel to "X-Men" slated for a May 2 release.

Yeah you're right! I'd be queen too right now if being ethnically discriminated against was a qual. Seriously, some people are not happy because of bad things that happened to them. No matter what good happens, they'll always be wishing for what could never be.

oh, not to be knitpicky, but most americans who designate their race as white are not 1/65th negroid. but yes, reparations get into a sticky business as to who would actually be reparated. Question: are they going to demand payment from the africans that went into the interior and captured them and sold them to the europeans and made profits off of them? why don't they try to end slavery which is still practiced in africa in some places?

...she was subjected to discrimination at an early age. Throughout high school, Halle participated in a variety of extracurricular activities, holding positions of newspaper editor, class president, member of the honor society, varsity cheerleader, and prom queen...

If that's "discrimination," we'd all like to be discriminated against! What a spoiled, whiny complainer. So she's a victim of "racism," eh? If it weren't for "racism," she would've gotten even more roles and would've won ten Oscars by now, instead of one? Or what? The very fact that she's being interviewed proves her success. The fact that she can pass herself off as black is only an advantage to her, as liberal Hollywood bends over backwards to avoid the appearance of bigotry. Since she's half black, half white, she could just as easily call herself white, or mixed race. But she does not. Why? Because it's an advantage to be black in Hollywood. Thousands of white actresses would dearly love to have a fraction of the success she's had.

Suppose she was fat and really was ugly? Then she'd be a victim of "looksism." Why doesn't she speak out on behalf of all the actresses who can't get work because they're chubby, homely, or over 45? This spoiled prima donna is just fishing for compliments and gets no sympathy from me.

Her remarks just show how typically shallow she is, just like most hollywood types. She isnt ugly at all, but she also isnt nearly as beautiful as some make her out to be, no matter what racial angle you're coming from. By the way, all her carping and bitching about racism just doesnt hold water. If Whitey was so damned racist, she wouldnt be where she is today, with her glamorous career and fat bank account. She should ask her friendly German journalist interviewing her about REAL racism-I think it might be educational.
