Halle Berry says she thinks she's 'ugly'

Halle Berry solidified her place as one of the world's sexiest women with her role as Bond girl Jinx in "Die Another Day."
But the Oscar-winning actress (Monster's Ball) says she still doesn't see herself as a beautiful star.
"To be totally honest, most of the time I think I'm ugly," she told the German magazine Journal fur die Frau. "I see myself without makeup every morning and that's why I don't have illusions anymore. I certainly don't feel like a big star."
Berry added that being black still hinders her progress in Hollywood.
"For many film studios and directors skin color remains a problem. They don't believe that the audience will accept a black actor in the main role. These narrow-minded people underestimate the public and prevent advancement in the industry."
Berry's next film will be "X-2," the sequel to "X-Men" slated for a May 2 release.

It's a shame. It's pretty clear that she's got some serious emotional problems. Hollywood has to be the most unhealthy place for her to be.
I keep thinking of Vanity. Remember her? She used to be into drugs and the whole "Hollywood lifestyle", and look at her now. She woke up and got out. Last I heard, she was heavily involved in her church group.

Shucks. I wanted to see Wesley Snipes play the part of David Duke.

Halle?

I did make the disclaimer unless the person is a real true life person. Wesley Sniped as David Duke... now there's something to think about. Is DD still alive?

Yes, I do remember Vanity, and I heard that too. (Hating Prince as I do, I was glad to hear she escaped his clutches.)

Most any woman looks a million times better if a very good professional makeup artist has them in a chair for an hour or two. (I speak from experience in this regard - I've heard, "That's YOU????" a few too many times. LOL)

Bernhardt? No, not her--but you've got the time about right.
Funny thing about the one I'm thinking of, I don't believe she was celebrated for her beauty as in her day, and is all but forgotten in ours.
(By the way, I remember you, we exchanged posts a while back; you would probably agree with my taste regarding this antique beauty. But, stop guesssing; I'm not telling.)
Grable did nothing for me, by the way (I mean, she was OK, but I don't know what all the fuss was about).
And to help you understand my views, I am, as you would have guessed, old.

I did make the disclaimer...That what the "shucks" was for. I don't know what his current status is.

I'm still trying to figure out if I'm part French just so I can beat the sh!t out of myself.
Unfortunately, both of my parents are adopted and they have little to no info on their biological parents.
I'm pretty sure I'm a good part English. When my dad and I are in London, people stop him all the time and ask him for directions. He just looks and sounds VERY English. All he knows is that he was born in Central Massachusetts.

Halle was a babe. But then Billy Bob Thornton laid on her in some movie and that just ruined her forever for me. She goes into the Jolie category of Billy Bob related untouchables now.

Pfft. I'm Greek-Bulgarian and people keep thinking I'm my stepfather's (biological) son. He's 100% Irish. The resemblance is uncanny. Go figure.

I had a lot more respect for her when she said she'd never do a nude scene in a movie. Attractive as I find her, it really bothers me that women feel that they need to do that to get ahead (maybe it's true, which would bother me even more).

Who are we to argue with this fugly and talented actress? If she's ugly, she's ugly. I won't disagree with her considered and timely opinion. After all, it's HOLLYWOOD!
I wonder when they will start a support group for personality dismorphic disorder? Maybe poor Halle can be the group leader?

Okay I give up! You'll never tell :D
I guess this thread ran so long because I think in the end we all don't like whiners. Myself I feel sorry for her in the end. I try not to take what hollywood actors and actresses say seriously. No one can know what she's really going through, however she's not the only one suffering in the world. Also, well she makes a big deal saying the toughest thing to be in America is black, but I disagree with her on so many levels. I think of poor whites in Appalachia and disagree. Also, I think of my own life and disagree as well. It's all in the mind, your own self concept, self esteem, self love. If your mind isn't stable then it's obvious isn't it? My advice to Halle would be to get some serious counseling.

Maybe Vanity should give her a call and persuade her to cash out, get out of Hollywood, and live a real life. IMHO that's a huge part of the problem right there. If Halle thinks beuaty is only skin-deep, well, gee whiz, look at the (superficial) lifestyle she's caught up in.

Hollywood actresses dribble bunk such as this because it makes the women who purchase those rags in the checkout stand feel better about themselves. "Gee, Halle Berry thinks she is ugly, too! She is just like me!"
I also wonder how the blonde, blue-eyed woman (who raised Halle Berry alone from the time that her black father abandoned her as a young child) feels every time Halle talks about how hard it is to be "black." Funny, I didn't see her daddy at the Acadamy Awards, only some WASP-ish looking woman beaming with pride. If being black is such a hardship, why does it give Ms. Berry such "street cred"?
