Actually, I think even Saddam himself got a bit teary-eyed towards the end of the proceedings.

Thanks so much for posting the side by side. I don't have a way to screen capture from the television, but have been going back and forth on my digital replay.
This is NOT Saddam. No way. He shares features, but he is not the same man shown in the 'cabinet' file footage tape being shown for comparison. [That file tape has to be fairly current because the appearance of Aziz is as he has recently looked on camera.] The eyebrows are wrong, the eyes are wrong, the ears are different, - the 'feel' of the face is different. It's not him.

Good representation of Saddam!
The most compelling indication that he's dead is that his pictures have been pulled down, pushed down, torn down, hit with shoes, peed on, and otherwise defiled, and he hasn't roared his disapproval. He could make a lot of tactical moves and create diversions, but IMO he would not tolerate the images of his evil self being destroyed without retaliation. His ego is too large for that.

Am I the only one who sees a similarity between the look of Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf and Saddam? I have taken pictures side by side and put a mustache and heavier eye brows on Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf...I think he looks exactly like Saddam! I think the first tape released the day of the decapitation strike against the Iraqi leadership featured the information minister as Saddam. I worked awhile in Hollywood and Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf sure looked like he had heavy Hollywood make up and used the glasses to further confuse the masses. Remember the Iraqi people hadn't seen Saddam on live tv in a few years.

**Actually, German technicians have confirmed that Sadaam has been using doubles on TV for over 5 years, and reported last year that there was not a single public appearance in over 3 years that actually was Sadaam.**
With all the newshounds and investigative reporters out there, I am surprised that this conclusion was not reached by American as well as German sources before this.

"I would not put it past Saddam to have taped a congrats to a "peasant" shooting down a helicopter, then when one went down,... one is found to claim credit for the deed." That's exactly right.
Let me get this straight, the Iraqi propagandists purport that a "peasant shot down an apache," then Saddam mentions it and everyone (the media particularly) thinks it's proof that he's alive? Saddam knows what aircraft we have--all he had to do was record a few different tapes, i.e., "peasant shot down a plane," "peasant shot down a drone," etc.
More importantly, most of the other references in the tape were extremely generic--and didn't quite fit the current situation.
Note to Simon Marks on FOXNews: Calm down. You are way too excited to learn that Saddam is "definitely" alive. This is far from concrete evidence.
Saddam may very well be alive, but this tape is no proof.

Saddam refers to farmer who shot down helicopter... By name? What kind of helicopter? Where? Did he reference the exact date? This souds like a very generic story to me. It could easily be Memorex.

I doubt it's a double - facial recogntion software could pick up a double. A double could never have EXACTLY the same dimensions between mouth, nose, eyes, ears.
Ha ha, you haven't even heard that facial recognition software recognized him as Saddam and not a double. You went directly from the capabilities of the software to doubting that this image is a double. You made some mighty large, unwarranted leaps there. As far as EXACTLY goes, a surgically-reconstructed double could have close enough facial dimensions that slight differences wouldn't be visible via broadcast video tape recorded from the TV signal. And which one of the "real" Saddams was really Saddam? And what about the effects of age, weight gain or loss, or edema?

I think the beret may hide a hairline that is different from Saddam's. Did he wear a beret before these last couple of "live" appearances?

Think about it folks. They knew for months (if not years) that we were coming... So, they pre-can several speeches, covering many scenarios that COULD occur. i.e- Um Qasr takeover, fighting in large cities, downing of Apaches by farmers. It's a simple cut-and-paste editing.
I can't believe there are so many in the government that fall for it!

Do you or anyone have a photo of his interview with Rather?
I would like to compare..
To: ErnBatavia
since U.S. forces are only in small groups, having avoided the mighty Iraqi Army.
He's definitely alive? With the above, contrary-to-fact statement?

Presumably the suck-up interview with Dan Rather ("veteran newsman") was with the real Saddam, so that would give the analysts something to compare too.
Also, you'd think we'd have some kind operation in or near Baghdad for the last two weeks that emits a timecoded electromagnetic impulse every, say, 2 minutes around the clock, so that a barely percepticle flicker in the video would interpretable only by NSA, for time-checking and to confirm he is in Baghdad.
In any event, I think we should be hoping he is alive, so we can go in and definitively kill him, and prevent him from becoming some semi-mythical figure plaguing us for years, like Bin Laden.

Holy crap, THATS a senerio I haven't thought of. No wonder we are stressing "Regime Change", and not "getting Saddam".

Yes, I believe Mohammed Saeed al-Sahaf is the big guy in charge right now...We need to target him, and watch it all fall down!
To: Spunky
They just showed another tape on Fox of him walking down the street being followed by adoring fans.
To: Spunky
Yes, he does. Because I believe they are cousins, are they not?

We've wondered all these years what happened to Jerry Colona.
Now we know. He's kissing babies in Iraq.

he may be communicating through vidoe conferencing if he is paralyzed and doesnt want his troops to see him Hmm, if he doesn't want anyone to see him, why use video? Don't you suppose he has a telephone?
