What are the Iraqis fighting for? Trying to leave a way open for Saddam to fly out with his tail between his legs.

U.S. officers say attack launched on Baghdad airport
NEAR BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) - U.S. forces launched an attack Thursday on Baghdad's international airport as American soldiers swept to the outskirts of the Iraqi capital, American officers said. Artillery fire could be heard near Saddam International Airport on the southwestern edge of the capital. Tracer rounds raced through the blackened sky and artillery shells exploded in the air.
Officers of the 3rd Infantry Division told an Associated Press reporter assigned to the unit that the attack on the airport had begun.
Earlier Thursday, the 3rd Infantry Division swept north from the Euphrates River town of Musayyib and engaged Iraqi forces in running battles along the southern edge of Baghdad.

This can't be. Seymour Hersh assured us that we are out of ammo and we're holding on by our fingernails.

I want to thank the BBC reporter who two hours ago assured the world and the Iraqis that no attack was imminent on the Airport. You lefty journalists are the best disseminators of disinformation the Coalition has! Keep up the good work, BBC!
