Lili's Quick Polynesian Summary

The group of islanders that we will be visiting are collectively known as
Polynesians. Many believe that the Polynesians first came to their respective
islands from Southeast Asia. Also, many historians believe that there is a
distinct possibility that Native Americans and Polynesians are related.
One group, Native Americans, traveled by land through the
Bering Strait. The Polynesians set course on the high seas. Both groups

are thought to have originated from the same place. The Polynesian
people comprise six groups: Maori, Samoan, Fijian (some do not consider
them an actual member of the group), Tahitians, Tongans, and Hawaiians.
Throughout their storied history, Polynesians have kept the traditions of
the "old island" with the blend of modern living. Their ability to blend
both lifestyles has allowed for more opportunities and holding on
to traditions that have been passed down through the generations.
Please join us today in learning more about them. Also, come with us
to enjoy the many activities and locations that they have shared with the
world. Enjoy yourself!

A Young Blonde, on vacation in Louisiana, wanted a pair of
alligator shoes, but was reluctant to pay high New Orleans
prices. "I'll just catch my own alligator," she told one
shopkeeper," so I can get a pair of shoes for free." She stomped
out of the store and headed for the swamp.

Later, as the shopkeeper drove home, he spotted the blonde
standing waist-deep in a bayou, shotgun in hand, with a huge
alligator closing in.

She took aim and shot the creature between the eyes. The
shopkeeper watched in amazement as she struggled to haul the
carcass onto an embankment where several other dead alligators
were lined up.

"Oh, no!" the blonde shouted in dismay. "This one isn't wearing
any shoes either!"

Welcome to the Canteen, KBay! It is an honor to have you and all the other new friends of the Canteen. Our job and focus here is to be silly, entertaining, emotional, dysfunctional, crazy, serious, and most importantly..SUPPORT OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN.

In other words, we are like your family away from family. We give our troops the picture of at least one person in their family or extended family and friends. If we can accomplish that, we've done our part to support our troops.

NO! You don't have to buy a stinky moldy cucumber Burka. Just stay away from Burka Man and you'll be fine. If not, WE'VE GOT YOUR BACK!

"I Got Your Back"
(author unknown)

I am a small and precious child, my parent has been sent to fight...
The only place I'll see their face, is in my dreams at night.
They'll be gone too many days for my young mind to keep track.
I may be sad, but I am proud.
My parent's got your back.

We are caring Moms and Dads. Our child has gone to war...
Our mind is filled with worries that we've never known before.
Every day we try to keep our thoughts from turning black.
We may be scared, but we are proud.
Our child has got your back.

I am a strong and loving spouse, with a spouse who had to go.
There are times I'm terrified in a way most never know.
I bite my lip, and force a smile as I watch my loved one pack...
My heart may break, but I am proud.
My loved one's got your back...

I am a Military Person... Serving Proudly, standing tall.
I fight for freedom, yours and mine by answering this call.
I do my job while knowing the thanks it sometimes lacks.
Say a prayer that I'll come home.
It's me who's got your back.

We honor the Heroes we have lost, who valiantly fought for our freedoms and we honor our Heroes who continue to serve our country and fight the good fight. May God watch over them, bless them and keep them safe.

Dedicated to Every American Veteran

For those who willingly risked their lives,
For sisters, daughters, Mothers, wives,
For those who stood and marched away:
A heartfelt Thanks to you today.

For those who stood in foreign flood,
In cold rain and clinging mud,
Who saw their buddies drenched in blood,
Yet knew their cause was just and good;
A heartfelt Thanks today.

For those who stayed at home to pray,
While sons and husbands marched away,
And those who never saw the day,
When love returned safe, home to stay;
A heartfelt Thanks today.

For those who fought when even they,
Believed there was a better way,
And gave their lives and limbs to say,
I answered the call, I was made to pay.
A heartfelt Thanks today.

Oh yes, there is both pain and grief ,
Mixed in with tears of sweet relief,
For those so willing their life to give,
That we may safely dwell and live.
I could not judge them either way;
But I MUST send my Thanks their way.
