Good Morning.
This is the Daily Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - LIVE THREAD.
It is designed for general conversation about the events of the day. In depth discussion of events should be left to individual threads - but links to the threads or other articles is highly encouraged. This allows us to stay abreast of the situation in general, while also providing a means of obtaining specific information.
Please have mercy on us dial up limited FReepers! Limit the big graphics, post links instead. A breif description of what the graphic is would help:
To all who helped this get started, thank you!
Special thanks to An.American.Expatriate for staring the daily threads, Mo1 for the screamer, the AdminMods for their tolerance, mhking for the video links, and, of course, Belly Girl...

Let's hope we find ways to make them sing soprano like canaries.

Yup. Flat-top bluegrass guitar and a little mando. Hubby is 5-string banjo player. I sing vocals too. That is so cool! I thought you were just going to watch a bluegrass festival, not play in one! My husband and I were thinking of going out to the Gettysburg Bluegrass Festival this year, but it's a long haul from Chicago and neither of us like to fly.

LOL I loved that!............is anyone watching this stupid biatch on ABC. They apparently felt the need to run a one hour segment to bash Bush.......Oh, wait, this is ABC the American Bashing Channel....Fair and Balanced bashing of America 24/7.

I think the same thing......that photo looked like our strike.... cooked off a SAM battery.. I wonder if that market that was hit was in the area where those missiles landed in that photo..

Hi! Having a nice weekend, I trust?

Has anyone else noticed that this war's surprize wasn't that shot at Saddam as much as it was fooling everyone and starting the ground campaign first, catching Iraq off guard and unable to damage the country as much as they were willing to do....Dang straight - very few oil wells were ignited. They are truly a headless beast and we are in good positions waiting to pounce. We certainly caused them to hastily dig in way closer to Baghdad than they would otherwise have done. They're now resorting to sporadic attacks and intermittent guerilla warfare.
Iraq expectede us to start with bombing, and we didn't...
I'm sure that they were going to mobilize at the first sign of bombing. Get out about 100+ miles from Bagdhad, build a line probably along the Euphrates river and maybe protect their port. I really think their strategy was one of slow retreat, but we moved in so fast that they had no real opportunity to counterattack. We used surprise and we moved quickly to string out their defense.
and we had a very lucky fist strike
Lucky, skillful, and bold. Excellent decision by President Bush to make that initial strike.

"Chuck Nash on FN this morn wondered whether Saddam's "ace in the hole" would be to step outside and reveal that he is was still alive, lol!"
Yeah and then al-Jezeera would have "exclusive" footage of Saddam's head exploding from the shell of a .50 cal sniper rifle!

One thing about having some 600 embedded reporters---a couple of months after they return home, think of all the new book that will be written---some 600 about their experiences.
To: Thinkin
The use of the term "Raghead" as a generic name for all Arabs is not acceptable and does not promote what America stands for in this conflict. Sure it is. Maybe you'd like to offer an alternative, like Huns, Nips, Gooks, etc.

OK, caught up. time to BBL...
To: Dog
I just printed out both of them. Gonna hang them up in my barracks room. If you know how. Put them up here. I think FReepers would get a blast outta them.
