Some of the worst examples of Anti-Americanism I've seen

"Ah, the oh so perfect Yanks trying to cover up their complete lack of respect for international law by blaming somebody else. As I've said before, Donald Rumsfeld is the biggest cnut in the world at the moment; worse even than Hussein or Bin-Laden. At least Hussein doesn't go around selling chemical weapons to mad dictators and then preach to everybody about how "free and democratic is the US". "

That's the North.

Not really -- East Midlands. I was a Forest supporter when I lived in England years ago. I still remember their winning Cup Final in the late 50's, when their star player left with a broken leg when NO substitutes were allowed.

"They are life's losers who don't want to work for a living and think that anyone who has one dollar more than themselves got it by crooked means.

You hit it right on the head. They have to justify their pathetic, worthless lives by dragging the entire country down to their level. Pond scum.

but it would seem unreasonable, knee jerk anti Americanism is everywhere.

Unfortunately, there are many anti American Americans too.

Nottingham Forest, better known as the scum. Attitudes like these are precisely the reason we have race riots in Oldham and Wrexham, and the reason Everton and Leeds supporters sing "You all live in a town full of Pakis" to the tune of Yellow submarine at Leicester City matches. Attitudes like these are reasons throngs of people literally took to the streets of Leicester and cheered when the World Trade Centre was attacked. Attitudes like these are the reason I feel like a foreigner in some parts of Britain. This is the core of my anger.

Lads, I'm losing my mind with this lot.

Well, not to worry mate.
Judging by the first paragraph, these functional illiterates don't even have a grasp of logical thoughts and connected ideas.

Natural selection should deal with that.

What's a cnut?

I think the "don't axe, don't tell" rule is in play here....but I can tell you this much: Hillary Rodman Clinton IS one.

Apparently, the dolt claiming Rumsfeld is a Cnut has not read this from the article you directed us to ......

""If Cnut had lived longer, his legacy might have been more significant. As it was, he gave England almost thirty years of freedom from foreign invasion. 31 Stenton provides a fitting summary of Cnut's reign, "It was so successful that contemporaries found little to say about it". 32""

I'm sure that it has been said on FR already, but I want to personally voice my appreciation of our British brethren who are fighting in this war. My prayers are with your military as they so bravely fight along side us Yanks.

DITTOS to that! Thank you Tony Blair, Jack Straw and Great Britain.

I know you have Sky News television there in the UK. Is their news/political coverage any better than the BBC's? I remember generally liking Sky News much better than the BBC when we spent a fair amount of time in Europe in the late 90s. I wasn't aware at the time if it had a left or right tilt, though.

Sky is better. That isn't saying much, but it is "better".

Thanks NYer, I haven't heard that report on any cable channels. Maybe there are a few thinking, sane Iraqi's left to build their nation back into something honorable. I see report after report of people who hate America and want to join the fight against our troops. The level of hatred against us is unbelievable really, splilling out in our own population against President Bush. I would say that the environment is truly demonic; a giant mass of the deceived waiting to be led by the antichrist. I'm glad we have a man at the helm who is steady, and I could kiss Tony Blair. The Brits have elected a fine man to head their country. God bless him for his morality, friendship and courage.
