Good news. I just returned from a five-day business trip to Orlando. Under normal circumstances, this would have been a real treat. But I had been literally climbing the walls down there for the first opportunity to get back home where I can get back "in sync." Yes, my hotel had FoxNews and I had a web connection, but not much time. Anyway, good to be back.

Why did they commit suicide? Maybe they believed the BBC and Iraqi TV that Umm Qasr had not been taken.

RE:
...expend more rounds than planned I can't recall the entire joke, but the punch line has the president walking on water and the media headline is "Bush can't Swim!"

When he said "we" he didn't mean the USA, he meant his buddies Saddam, Ramsey, and his 13 year old girlfriend from AOL.

Are these the same ones that were headed to Basra at the British holding there?

I hear Brittany Spears is planning Iraqi military strategy. Ahh, so I guess you could say it is being spearheaded.

I am praying this is not the case. But I would put nothing past these evil people.

"Who knows, maybe these idiots were not troops at all, but real civilians forced by the peaceful Iraqi "soldiers" to drive down their road of doom and leave the town filled with murderous minions who will pretend to be civilians."Just manaical enough a Saddam-style ruse -- I had thought of this scenario myself as well.

Is there anyway we could have gotten reliable intelligence prior to the bombing that they are indeed soldiers?

CNN: "In a major setback for coalition forces, US and British aircraft have completely obliterated an Iraqi armored column. An unknown number of innocent civilians and/or animals may have been killed or possibly injured, and decimating the Republican Guard can only further inflame the Arab Street. We are still awaiting reports on how many coalition personnel were taken prisoner by the Iraqis following this action, but the success of the operation must be having a devastating effect on the morale of our men and women in the field. And now we return to our normally scheduled coverage of global Anti-War Protests."

Saddam must be a slow learner. You'd think after the "Highway of Death" he'd have know better.

Iraqi troops heading south could be a ruse.
To: dalebert
I agree. It's more likely that some left Basra but others could be hiding and or melded in with the civilians. Some could be sneaking up towards Baghdad. If they are going to use guerilla warfare as it appears, it could easily be a ruse. I'm sure we're aware of it.

Another thing to consider is that we are masters of disinformation. No telling what is really going on.
