Live report from Karl Penhaul after Apache choppers attacked Republican Guards near Karbala (sp?). This is north of Najaf and WSW 70mi of Baghdad.
He reports that our Apaches were shot up pretty bad. The IRG put up a "wall" of AAA. After returning to base, Apaches were "strewn around" instead of being parked neatly. He wouldn't confirm that all our Apaches made it back.

Why attack with low-flying Apaches??? Why not use our strength: B-52s, B-1s, and B-2s? Our Apaches were shot up seriously in Operation Anaconda, too.

They have a division of Iraqi armor dug in, I don't know why they don't just scout it out and cluster bomb the entire area.

How many MOABs do we have available for deployment?

Exactly, I'm getting sick of our gentleman's war approach. Carpet bomb the sh!t out of these bastards for a week or two and then send in our guys.

How many MOABs do we have available for deployment? How about one 20-megaton device air burst at 5,000 feet?

Time to end the psy-op S&A and really do some damage ala Rolling Thunder.

I think the B52's are on their way. Seems like they left England about 7PM ET

Political leadership is trying to fight a politically correct war. Trying to avoid killing the enemy. We think they are trying to surrender, when in fact they are lying to us. We must kill all enemy soldiers and leaders now, and only accept a surrender when it is given unconditionally.

Don't know what is going on in Iraq. I'm starting to get very concerned about our our losses. We could end up losing significantly more lives as we get closer to Baghdad.

Prayers for the enemy, too (burning coals on heads).

Considering the source is CNN, where boobly-traped, barbed wired chemical storage facilities are called 'fertilizer plants', I'll await details from a more reliable source.
Prayers from our troops. They're under fire from the Republican guard AND from media.

There's nothing better at killing armor than the Apaches (well except the A-10s) and they can loiter and provide close air support to the troops on the ground.
Besides the fact that they made it back speaks for the toughness of the Apaches.

If the triple A is that bad, can you fly in a C141 with a moab?
To: Thane_Banquo
Did clinton leave behind a "politically correct bomb" in our military before he left office? Army "imams", "shock and awe" rather than "dead and crushed" as our policy? I could care less about Iraqi civilian casualties. Yes, if they use them as human shields they will be killed. Looks like Saddam has already made that choice, get out the MOABs and keep our helicopters back.
