The Great Pyramid of Khufu has always fascinated people because it is the only ancient wonder of the world that exists today. It is also possible people are fascinated because Khufus pyramid, especially the interior, is very complex. The modern entrance to the pyramid was created in the Ninth Century A.D. by el-Mamoun son of Haroun el-Rhasied. The true entrance is above this one. This passage goes down through the pyramid, and then connects to another corridor that ascends to the Kings and Queens Chambers. The original passage continues downwards into an unfinished chamber directly under the pyramid. Discussion about the purpose of these chambers and the complexity of the pyramid is varied and ongoing.

Zahi Hawass "I believe that the shafts from the so-called Queens Chamber likely have no function..."Seems like a lot of effort building those shafts for no good reason. Must have been a government project.

Wasn't this televised on the Discovery channel a few months ago? I recall Zahi Hawass having almost electrocuted himself during the taping. It was disappointing to learn there was another door - - reminiscent of Geraldo Rivera's opening of Al Capone's safe.(or was it a trunk?)

But since then they went back, drilled a hole through that door, looked in, and found YET another door.

Door shuts on pyramid's mysteries
A fibre optic camera was inserted inside the door
Hopes of unlocking the secrets of the Pharaohs have hit an obstacle after a robot sent into the heart of Egypt's Great Pyramid in Giza has found its way barred.
Scientists will study the footage and prepare for another expedition
With audiences watching on live television, the miniature robot - dubbed the Pyramid Rover - crawled about 65 metres (71 yards) up a narrow tunnel to explore a mysterious shaft blocked by a limestone door.
When it got to the door, it drilled a hole and inserted a fibre optic camera to film what lies beyond.
But the crafty pyramid builders have kept their secrets from prying eyes because the chamber was blocked by yet another door - not seen for more than 4,000 years.
The 12-centimetre (five inch) tall robot, may yet return for another crack at the mysteries of the Pharaohs.

Pull Geraldo Rivera away from the troops...this has all the makings of another secret entrance to Al Capone's lost vaults.
