Do you really think that the Iraqis don't know the planes are on the way, even without the news reports? How to you think they know how to set off the sirens when the planes start coming in...?
The Iraqis know because they still have radar, even if it wasn't all over the US/WORLD TV.
Hell... on a Iraqi blog the other day, the Iraqi knew before we did that they had taken off. He had a knew he had 4 hour wait when he made his post. His last Post was that they were 2 hours away... He has not posted since... probably because his power is out or the internet has been shut down.
Sorry I not trying to be too rough on you... just trying to fill you in.

Hmmmm? I don't think it's on "every single channel". I have taken a breather from this coverage several times, and watched a lot of other stations. Of course, I have cable - if I didn't it might be different.
However, you can always go out for dinner; go to a movie; rent a movie; go out for ice cream; read a book. There certainly must be a thousand other things you can do.

So they think "military engineers" did it...aka contractors?
My husband was predicting that any weakness would come from non-military contractors. I posted about his worries about this just last week. This is awful.

I very much understand about it being scarey.
I suspect this is one aspect that we, here at home, will have to get used to if we're going to be watching this war so close. The good and the bad of modern technology. *sigh*

Sapper is a military engineer trained to use explosives.
In vietnam became the term for the little brown brothers, who were able to slither thu the wire.

(Do not attend a gunfight with a handgun, the caliber of which does not start with a "4".)

You talk to Iraqis on the net? What did this guy say?
To: bybybill
The are holding the 101st to go into Northern Iraq as soon as the air fields in the west are ready, then they'll drop into the north to make the northern front. The rest of the supplies for the 101st just arrived yesterday.

They've done their worst. Camp security at the border will be tightened down after this incident. After this Al Qaeda will need to crash a 9-11 jet into our base their to inflict a carnage.
To: bybybill
101 is still in Kuwait,
101st is on the move toward Baghdad.... This attack was on the base camp from which they came as I understand it. Still members of the 101st in base, support troops etc.

Agreed - they think the camp commander was targeted. A regular terrorist wouldn't know who the commanders was, I don't think. Perhaps a contractor coming in and out in trucks for supplies?

Thanks...but, could the "sap" aka military engineer be a contractor? (i.e. local?) Yup, could be anyone.

never, ever trust the enemy. i think at this point we know who wishes us ill.
To: ItisaReligionofPeace
It sounds like whoever did this had access to the base and knew where the officers were.Or maybe received intelligence from someone who knows the base.

Many things about Wolf Blitzer irritate me, not least of which his hideous monotone voice.
To: abner
The guy Blitzer is talking to said that whoever attacked knew where to attack. Find them and peel their skin off their bodies with a pair of pliars. Send the film to Al Jazeera.
To: amom
I remember as a kid being scared to death, I had 5 cousins in viet nam at the same time.
To: Peach
So that might explain the report of an Italian intelligence officer in control of the scene?
