This is the continuation Thread of Operation Iraqi Freedom - Day 1- LIVE THREAD.

The SCUD is specifically designed to be only modestly accurate, and is intended to deliver nukes, chemical, or biological weapons from simple ballistic trajectories. It can carry a pretty heavy load though.

As far as delivering conventional explosives, it is little better than the V-2 of WWII, from which it is "decended" = you can hit a city from a distance, but you can't hit much of any specific target inside the city accurately.

That's why its a terror weapon, and why the Soviets stopped using them for anything but chemical and nuclear weapons.
