Turkey has a brand new (one week old) administration, most of whom are inexperienced. I also believe we are feeding a lot of propaganda and didn't want to get between the kurds and turks. We are commanding the Kurd forces.
The taking of those airfields in northwest Iraq appears to have been a BIG objective from the start and I'd guess we took them from the Red Sea position we got into while "dick"ering with the Turks. Interesting.

Gen. Franks confirmed Saddam's whereabouts unknown I thought he did a good job, didn't say he was dead or alive or anything just he didn't know where he was now. Your run-of-the-mill Iraqi will be forgiven for wondering whether Saddam's 6 feet under. His silence cannot be taken any other way, except maybe to mark him as a coward.

I also noticed that a doctor on CNN International in the entrance to a bunker wearing a gas mask and giving a report. A soldier walked past in front of the camera without a gas mask. Kinda reminds me of some Benny Hill skits. All that was missing was for someone to yell, "You silly fat cow!"

I know we're not supposed to post pictures here (well unless it's belly girl). But I wanted to give a link to these great pictures from NYC...
here and here
The Intrepid Sea Air Museum in New York's harbor March 22, 2003 after a large yellow ribbon was hung on the bow to show support for troops serving in operation Iraqi freedom. The Intrepid is a decommissioned aircraft carrier that served in World War II and Vietnam.

Second phase is underway. Cruises have been launched. Everything is approaching BDAD. Most of tonight's ordinance will be tasked on the RG divisions in front of the Third ID.
Not a good night to be a member of the Guard.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

Oh, wow! Is
THAT what that is?... a
PRAYER call?
Sheesh..., I thought it was kinda weird... that, as soon as they heard the AIR-RAID warning, signaling that the missiles and bombs were about to arrive, they bent over and pointed their butts up in the air!
Thanks for clearing that up for me.

MSNBC, a few minutes ago, was showing planes taking off from a carrier in the Persian Gulf---indications are, it may be a long, loud nite in Iraq.
