DEBKA is saying he was shot (by who, I don't know), then captured by Kurds as he was trying to escape to Turkey, and is being questioned by U.S. intelligence.
Someone has a thread going about it.

"Aziz was one of the ones we slated for transitioning the new provisional government.....Post Saddam "
What? Aziz was to Saddam what Marc Fabiani was to Clinton ( and now to the San Diego Chargers )
Just what could he do in a new governemtn besides lie to the rest of the world ?
He probably had a new job lined up with Chrique

the fog of war is going to get pretty thick soon guys.Well, then, we can rest assured that FR will bring us the first wisps of fog.....(this is the situation where the rush-to-post is the biggest drawback of FR, I think.) There's going to be a million rumor posts, and one Freeper that get's to claim "I was first to be correct!" Oh well.

Christopher Hitchens has written extensively about Tariq Aziz and the pressure that Hussein has put on him through prosecution of his family. I have no direct links, but it shouldn't be hard to find something on this.
To: Keme
I believe I read it here not long ago.
Probably not enough info to do a search...

Can't resist...guess he got caught between Iraq and a hard place.

Also when . . . when they go down into the mine everyone would still
be alive. There would be no shocking memories, and the prevailing
emotion will be one of nostalgia for those left behind, combined with
a spirit of bold curiosity for the adventure ahead!

God, I hope his glasses survive. Or his nose and mustache... Maybe they could clone him from those residuals like they tried in "Sleeper"! Unless Woody Allen was handling the cloning operation... ;)

I can think of few videos more humorous than Aziz running. Perhaps nike can sign him.

> Okay - so far rumors have it that Tariq Aziz has:
> 1. Run off to Turkey
> 2. Fallen into the hands of the Kurds
> 3. Been shot trying to escape Iraq
You left out:
0. Is on the Coalition list of the 50 people to be prosecuted
for crimes against humanity.

Where did you hear that Tarek Aziz's son is in jail? While I can't give a current source, his son has been arrested and released twice over the last 10+ years.
