United States House of Representatives

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Statement of Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert
Regarding Senator Daschle's Comments on the War
"I'm saddened that the president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we are now forced into war," Senate Minority Leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) told union workers yesterday.
(Washington D.C.) Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert responded to the above comments of Senator Daschle today:
"I was disappointed to see Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle's comments regarding the upcoming military action in Iraq. Those comments may not undermine the President as he leads us into war, and they may not give comfort to our adversaries, but they come mighty close.
"Senator Daschle has spent more time criticizing the leadership of President Bush than he has spent criticizing the tyranny of Saddam Hussein. Mr. Hussein is the reason we are at this moment in history. Saddam Hussein has a long history of brutality, a long track record of harboring weapons of mass destruction and supporting terrorists and terrorist organizations. He has terrorized his neighbors and his own citizens. He has made a mockery out of the United Nations for twelve years now, and because the United Nations will not act to protect its integrity, we will act for it."
"Make no mistake, Saddam Hussein is to blame for this war. This war is only necessary because Saddam Hussein refuses to disarm, refuses to leave power, and refuses to stop his brutal ways. I would hope that at this time of crisis, we will all work together to support our troops and our President as we move forward to remove Saddam Hussein from power."

I might as well express my opinion here on FR as i know Dasshole's people monitor FR.
"Dasshole, we are aware of your hypocricy, and are not surprised that you would take any opportunity to attack your political opponents in your usual hostile partisan and anti-American fashion."

President Bush: "Should an enemy strike our country, they would be attempting to shift our attention with panic and weaken our morale with fear. In this they would fail. No act of theirs can alter the course or shake the resolve of this country."This goes for you too, Daschle!

We need to bring back the Rep from South Florida who said "I fought against people like you in WWII." He was a democrat talking about Republicans, of course, but now we can see which is the anti-semetic party.

I could no longer contain myself so I wrote the following:
Dear Mr. Daschle,
To quout you, '"I'm saddened, saddened that the president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we are now forced into war," Senate Minority Leader Thomas A. Daschle (D-S.D.) told union workers yesterday.
Mr. Daschle, I am a lifelong Democrat, 68 years of age. I am thourghly disgusted with YOUR politicizing this war, denegrating the President of the United States, attempting to advance a Democrat(?!) agenda in this manner!
You certainly didn't sound this way last fall when you said, We ought not politicize this war. We ought not politicize the rhetoric about war and life and death.
We have to rise to a higher level..."
You certainly didn't sound this way when, IN 1998, YOU SUPPORTED USE OF FORCE IN IRAQ AND CALLED FOR BIPARTISANSHIP, that Saddam Hussein Leaves Us Little Choice But The Use Of Force. Clearly the intransigence on the part of the Iraqi government and Saddam Hussein leaves us little choice at this point
"
Sir, if this comment you made that you are, "...saddened, saddened that the president failed so miserably at diplomacy..." is now the position you take, and if this is representative of the once proud Democrat Party, then you can bet your bottom dollar that THIS Democrat will NEVER vote for another Democrat the rest of my life, and I will see to it that as many people possible will see your hypocrisy and the depths to which the Democrat Party has sunk!
GOD BLESS AMERICA...PLEASE
...and signed it.

Excellent letter Budge. Good for you!

I think the reason John Thune didn't contest the election against Tim Johnson was so he could run for Dashole's seat. I'll certainly support him. We really need to rid the Senate of him and as many of the other anti-American vermin as we can.
