It is an issue because the family has said she NEVER wavered in her story and description of the man.

And she never did. MK saw in the darkness a gun and stuck to her story. Now we know through Elizabeth that it wasn't a gun, but a knife. What difference does it make what it was?

She also gave a description of the man (in the darkness) and never wavered on it.

Correct.

The police said that she was upset at being separated from Mitchell and Wanda and was very concerned about what was going to happen to them. She did not want to leave them.

So, ES told the cops that she was Augustine Marshall, and the drifters were her parents, but she told the FBI that she was his 'wife'?

And somebody better check out the dude that married them. Why didn't this person alert authorities?

Excellent.

The contract is voidable whether executory or executed.

Yea, this angelic 14 year old Mormon willingly agreed to marry a 49 year old LUNATIC. You people are crazy.

How old were those kids who willingly followed Charles Manson, lived with him, and murdered for him?

It it quite likely that she identified with her abductors. This happens frequently in kidnapping cases.

Moreover, certain contracts in most states cannot be avoided. Examples of such contracts are: student loans; contracts for medical care; for bank accounts; marriage and insurance. There may be others unavoidable contracts by minors once entered into.

One confused little girlie.... IMHO. It would be interesting to know what the whacked slimeball wierdo was telling her all these months. Sounds like he was trying to convert the LEO during the interrogation. Sheesh. Even his own mother had a restraining order against him.

agree to disagree

Of course.

But i'm gonna guess you've been around long enough to know how much power the media has to influence popular opinion.

Yes, many states are beginning to move away from the notion that minors lack capacity to contract. I believe Wisconsin was an early leader in this trend.
