I think he's hiding out in the Pakistani hills with Elvis and a cheese eating moose. ;-)

try pi * r^2; 2*pi*r = circumference

Hey man, with Juliet Huddy and Patty Ann Brown, they have it all!! Why go anywhere else for news!!!!
To: AFPhys
so... font face=symbol ... then p becomes PI... cute...
the things you can learn in this place...

I meant "drone." Sheesh.

Truthfully, the video I saw lacked drama.
I'm sure up close it was quite dramatic. I saw the photo on Drudge and I didn't get the Ferrari quality paint job...
I hope that was just for show, and that when it's time for actual deployment they give the paint job priviledges to some NYC Firemen armed with a few cans of Krylon.

Area =
pr²
Area = 3.14 * (25)²
Area = 3.14 * 625
Area = 1962.5 sq mi
Is that correct?

Greta just announced that bin Laden's location has now been narrowed to a 25 mile radius.I'm thinking that they are talking 25 Dog Miles (similar to Dog Years). So the 25 miles is really 175 miles.

C = pi x D = 3.1416 x 50 mi = 157 miles of exit possibilities.
Tell me when they're down to 1000 ft.
If they do find him (though I think he is dead), it'll be a while until the DNA comes back.
I wouldn't get too excited but there's nothing like a good showdown at the ok corral.

Pi times the radius squared {not the square of the radius},,

I'm a skeptic on this ... but if it is true, that is one hell of a tight space to be in with our technology.

25 square mile radius makes no sense. Radius is a linear measure (from center to a point on the circumference) and does not have "square units."
Does she mean a 25 square mile area or an area with a radius of 25 miles. There is a big difference!
A 25 mile radius has an area of ~1963 square miles.
To: Consort
your math is right ... a circle of 25 mile radius (50 mile diameter) encloses 1962 square miles.

Well, for the third time, she said 25 SQUARE MILE radius in the promo, but i am beginning to think she was teasing us all!

The area of a circle is equal to
(pi) x (r^2) The formula you provided is for the circumference of a circle, not the area.
To: AFPhys
1962.5 sq mi = 508,285.16 sq hectometers = 24,316,159,983.409573 square cubits = 1,256,000.002 acres = .... I think.

25 Daisy cutters spread out along a 25 mile diameter. Blast overpressure ought to do it.
To: CurlyBill
Wouldn't be something if he was captured right before we went into Iraq???
Would be even greater to find a computer or files or something that links Bin Laden to Hussien. Then there would be not doubt whatsoever of Hussien's link to terrorism.
Here's hoping!!!!
