That takes money — the kind of money only the long-suffering U.S. taxpayer can give, plus a cash-grabbing fund-raiser.

The Congress would be likely to totally defund the UN if Clinton were the General Secretary.

A scene from the movie "The Omen II", or Bill Clinton at an early age? hehe

It's a natural. Who doesn't think of Bill Clinton when they think of Kurt Waldheim?

"Secretary-General Clinton?"

Clinton probably thought that as "Secretary-General" he'd be directly in charge of all Secretaries worldwide.

Articles like this one simply illustrate that our press is either uneducated or willfully deceiptful.

The UN Charter forbids the Secretary General from coming from the 5 Permanent Security Council countries.

So to get around that proscription, Clinton would either have to renounce his citizenship and gain status somewhere else (but not another member of the 5), OR the UN would have to get a change to its Charter past a U.S., UK, Russian (they hate Bill because of Kosovo) or Chinese (Clinton bombed the Chinese embassy in Serbia) veto.

And then, Clinton would have to avoid a personal veto from any of the 5 permanent Security Council nations, as those 5 have to be in unanimous agreement on the Secretary General.

But this article addressed none of that.

Typical.

That poor "journalist" probably made all "A"'s in her university curriculum, too...

good thing ole Bill is a terrible war criminal, what with his bombing asprin factories in Bosnia, civilian casualties in Somolia, etc etc...

I'll tell you what though, I'd support anyone who shielded him from prosecution in the International Criminal Court, only because the rest of us would certainly lose sovereignty in that mess. I would however fully support anyone who wants to try, convict, and hang that murdering, treasonous bastard for the murders occuring at Waco and the use of internationally illegal poison gas against American citizens.

Bill and Hillary Clinton are like the sick joke that never ever ends

First, the U.S. drops out of the UN. Then, they witdraw all financial support from it. At that time, the UN is forced to leave the U.S. or shut down entirely, either one of which is a winner. Bill can be Sec/Gen in whatever country might be willing to have the UN, but it won't be the U.S. (maybe Switzerland, or one of those other socialist, anti-U.S., European countries). However, my guess is that the UN will die a well-deserved death without a New York home and U.S. financial support.
