[history]
Today feminists celebrate International Women's Day. But don't expect to see any banners proclaiming the rights and dignity of women in the Muslim world, even though many women there are not allowed to drive, vote or venture out of the house alone. Nor will there be any mention of women who are expected to cheerfully endure, in the discreet words of the Arab News, "a light beating" from disapproving husbands.

I guess this is one of the biggest hypocracies out there.....the Lesbian Left (what I call the present-day womens movement) never denounces the plight of Muslim women in Islamic countries.
I bet it is because the women in Muslim countries are not lesbians. I call the NOW types "Lesbian Left" because it seems their agenda is more for the dyke type than for mainstream women...and also most of the NOW types look like they never been near men

Utahgirl posted an excellent piece from author Norma Khouri (sp? it's getting late). Remember all the outrage at Bill Clinton's behavior from these women? HA! Just by that non-response they showed themselves to the rest of the world as what they truly are.

I recall a similar article a couple weeks ago. I believe it was also written by Hymowitz. Very good article.

It's been clear for quite a while that the gender-war feminists -- that is, those who agitate for special privileges for themselves and their fellow travelers -- are not interested in the well being of women in general. They're nothing more than another special interest group that wants to use the political process to aggrandize and enrich themselves at others' expense.
Contrast their behavior to the outrage expressed by equity feminists such as Christina Hoff Sommers and Wendy McElroy, who simply ask for gender-neutral equal rights before the law, a campaign already successful in the United States and desperate to make inroads in the hellholes of the Middle East.

I call the NOW types "Lesbian Left" because it seems their agenda is more for the dyke type than for mainstream women... Well, they do seem to have a lot of concern for the 'rights' of mainstream straight women to murder their unborn babies... But for the most part you are right on target.

I guess the Muslim women don't kill enough unborn babies to garner support form the modern day feminist.

I'm reading a book by an ex-NOW LA chapter president.
During the Clinton sexual harassment scandals, NOW was paid over $700k in taxpayer money to fund a "tobacco awareness" campaign which they never implemented.
This was at a time when LA NOW was near bankruptcy.
Must be just a coincidence that they kept silent over Clinton's misogeny.
