Could I be seeing something that isn't there or was I just reading between the lines during President Bush's news conference? Time and time again, I kept hearing...You better get the hell out of dodge because we're coming for Saddam and as much as we would like to prevent the loss of innocent life....you dont want to be in town when the shootin starts!

the Ted Kennedy's of this world saying he is doing it for some personal reasonYou don't really think that a man who left a woman to drown in a car to save his political career can understand a man who has honor, do you?

Yes, I agree with you, he did seem to say get out now while the getting is good. I also saw a news segment this morning that stated the media has already been told to leave the area. Peter Arnette is staying of course, but he said others were packing up and getting out.

we were watching the same show.....it was like Gary Cooper in "High Noon", he didn't choose the time and place, but he'll deal with the problem rather than run

But from all the loads of info, and right here on free republic, the Turkey scenario, though preferred, is not necessary... heard 3,000 troops were already marching in Turkey!

Good point, Howlin! Teddy boy is a degenerate. How could he see any further than what would motivate him? His sidekick, Dodd (or was that sandwichkick?), was on Larry King tonight making an utter fool of himself. Democrats, what a bunch of Maroons and clinton discards. The Axis of Acorns, the bitter little nuts unfit for 'aural' consumption.

How could he see any further than what would motivate him? And there you have it. They always project what THEY would do/have done/will do/won't do on others.
And they wouldn't know a good man if he slapped them upside the head.
After hearing that Kennedy trashed him personally tonight, I'm wondering if W is thinking back on the night he was kind enough to have them all to the White House for that movie about JFK. One thing I know is that George W. Bush is a better person than I am if he can forgive the things that are said or done to him by these fools.

It would be great if Bush can dump this off as a regional problem, but I doubt it'll unwrap that way. Japan or SK are doubtful to deal with it alone. China doesn't want it. If they have to squeeze NK at all, they'll have millions of refugees pouring in. Last thing they want.
Very unlikely Bush will negotiate directly. I'd say that's a given. NK doesn't have the economic luxury of a prolonged diplomatic debacle, which is why they're doing this to begin with. They couldn't keep up such an expensive program for long, not without self-degrading sacrifice and especially if their bread & butter proliferation efforts are bogged down with heavy US recon and military buildup in the region.

Hmmmm? I see you just signed up on 3/1
I do believe the President said tonite that Powell was just in China talking to them about NK.

Could I be seeing something that isn't there or was I just reading between the lines during President Bush's news conference? One thing that struck me was really odd was how, when someone asked about France and Germany and Russia, Bush responded with an unmistakable *smirk* and said something to the effect of, "just wait and see how they vote". Given how much trouble they've been up until now, Bush seemed *way* too cheerful, confident, and optimistic -- *unless* there's already some sort of "done deal" behind the scenes and he just can't wait to see the public's surprise when it happens.

Really, thats interesting, I can see how it fit every single one of them that I posted it under.

I got the impression that he was extremely tired, from all of this itself and from THE STUPID QUESTIONS OF SOME OF THE MORON REPORTERS!!!. That said...Rush ought to have a 3 hour field day on reporter stupidity

We don't know what Powell was there to discuss precisely, aside from the given that it had something to do with North Korea.
President Bush on NK; last night:
"We are working hard to bring a diplomatic solution. And we've made some progress. After all, the IAEA asked that the Security Council take up the North Korean issue. It's now in the Security Council."
I'm short on time right now, but perhaps later this evening I can provide more info noting China's position.

Personally, I think that your vanity should have been posted solely under 'Your Opinion/Questions,' but the power-that-was disagreed (although I note that the p-t-w added that topic for you). I must admit that what caught my eye was your choice of 'Constitution/Conservatism.' Call me an original-intent scholar, I suppose.
