Just found this on http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com. Sorry, I know it's a little of subject, but somewhat related.
5:21PM Pentagon says Iraq plans to damage, destroy oil by August Cole
The Defense Department said Thursday it believes Iraq may destroy or damage its oil fields if attacked. Accordingly, the Pentagon said it has come up with plans to deal with oil well fires and other environmental effects, which could be twice as bad as the Kuwait fires in 1991. "The department has crafted strategies that will allow U.S. forces to secure and protect the oil fields as rapidly as possible in order to preserve them prior to destruction," the Pentagon said in a statement. Brown & Root came up with the fire-fighting plan.

First thought in my head was, all the anti war/dems say the US have been cutting off life to the children of Iraq with the sanctions...
I hear plenty of the same. I've heard some go as far as to say, and this is a direct quote: "right on...if Saddam does have some really horrible weapons, he oughta pull em all out right now and fire em at the closet american base, and frankly, I think the fact that he doesn't is an indicator that he's not REALLY a threat. But then, we all knew THAT."
It's sickening the lengths they go to...

Film crews are with the reporters is my understanding so it can be detailed what is going on. This could be the reason. Pretty safe out here in flyover Country!

"Let me say this again...(WE) have a way of identifying friend or foe. They cannot replicate this way. It's probably a real blessing that this will not be a multi-national force going in. We will know who is NOT an American soldier."
This, or something very similar to it, came up on Mail Call (History Channel) a week or two ago. If anyone didn't see it, Shaka is correct, we have an absolute "un-spoofable" way to distinguish anyone else from our troops.

Jim Wilkinson, director of strategic communication at Central Command in Tampa, Fla., said Saddam Hussein had ordered procurement of the uniforms, but he would not say how this was known.Maybe he's just making it up. Our guys should be putting these kinds of stories out every single day, any thing they can brainstorm, to foil whatever lies Saddam is planning to tell.

The Pentagon statement did not explain the sources of the information. A defense official said it came from U.S. intelligence agencies.
I want to know where he is getting the explosives and uniforms

In a related story, the U.S. claims that Iraqi troops disguised as U.S. troops, disguised as Iraqi troops wearing U.S. uniforms . . . oh, forget it.
Interesting side note: After Levi Strauss opened his clothing business in California, he made a fortune in the 1860s selling military uniforms to both the Union and Confederate armies.

Hmm..Saddam must be getting tired of the psyops against him..

the 'Monica' beret is reviled amongst 99% of the Army. One of my disappointments with W is he didn't rescind this piece of crap. Oh well ...

Hope we catch some of these guys. Since they will be in U.S. uniforms I guess they will be SPIES. I think the Geneva Convention allows us to then shoot the scmucks!

I couldn't agree more. Save the black berets for special forces, like before. I don't care for looks of the black berets anyway but they used to mean something, namely, that the wearer was a member of a crack unit.

And the Germans used babies for bayonet practice in their 1914/1915 march thru Belgium.....

Just like the Monica beret.

exactly so. almost nobody likes it, for a bunch of reasons. it is embarassing to wear it around Rangers, one feels like a lame-o pretender.
When I retire I will have my beret on the table as an ashtray. (can you tell I can't stand it?)
