[history]
Ten songs into the Pretenders' Saturday show at the Warfield, singer- guitarist Chrissie Hynde pithily summed up her group's enduring appeal and, in the process, the appeal of rock music as a whole.
"I think our band represents all the great losers of the world," she told a cheering sold-out crowd. "Because it's all about the losing." With that, she handed off her guitar, grabbed the microphone and led the Pretenders into the power ballad/anti-anthem "The Losing," off their 2002 album, "Loose Screw."

This is a great reason for Rush to ax the opening bumper.

Through it all, Hynde's vegan-fueled chutzpah was relentless. This review was relentless too. As for Chrissy, she makes a lousy poster girl for legalization.

Chrissie Hynde of the Band Pretenders Roots for West's Loss Against Iraq "GIVE US WHAT WE DESERVE" Oh Chrissie, I would be glad to. But my sainted mother told me ladies never brawl in public.
Care to step in to an alley?

I agree wholeheartedly! Rush...we love you, but drop that horrible woman's bumper/theme. Charlie Daniels will do just fine...

Rush Limbaugh, please use ZZ Top music instead of this demoded woman's song for your opening bump!

Rush needs to send his Pretenders opeing riff to the same place I sent my only Pretender's CD: to the landfill.

Quite the opposite, play it even more. It just burns Prissy to no ends, she tried to stop him from using it but failed!

...or Ted Nugent might even p*ss them off more.

ZZTop is an excellent choice.

My understanding is, she said she never objected to him playing it, it came through the rumor mill and Rush stopped. Then she said oh no I never said anything against him using it and he resumed using it. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure that is close to what happened.

ZZTop is an excellent choice. Yep, the guitar riffe in the song "Legs" would be a nice show opener.

Rush,
You heard that Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders flipped the "Byrd" (;-) ) at our
fine brave servicemen? San Fran Chronicle paper said that Hynde:
" ... opined that she hopes the United States loses if it goes to war
with Iraq ("Bring it on! Give us what we deserve!"), ..."

A freeper response to this was:
"This is a great reason for Rush to ax the opening bumper."
I agree... Time to use Moby (eg "Porcelein"). With him, there is at least the hope
he'll get mugged and turn into a neo-conservative.
Cheers,

Notice how they buried this quote deep down in the article.

I agree with Diddle E. Squat. If it gets under her skin, all the more reason for Rush to keep the song. Imagine an audience full of young people who never heard her stuff played on the air chanting "Play the Limbaugh song, play the Limbaugh song." ROTFLMAO

Ted Nugent might even p*ss them off more Another good choice. I'd probably use the classic Ted song "Strangelhold."
