Country anthem plays a drumbeat for war (Darryl Worley's Have You Forgotten)

Sean Hannity's program touted a country artist who was singing about his love for our nation.

Here's a USA Today story about the same artist.

Country artist Darryl Worley is first out of the gate with a record that endorses war with Iraq. The top new song on this week's country chart at No. 43, Have You Forgotten? may seem to equate Saddam Hussein with Osama bin Laden, but the record is striking a chord.

Darryl Worley's cd "Have You Forgotten" is due in stores in May. I expect the release date will be bumped up due to the success of the single.

Consultant Steve Warren is, I'm sure, nothing more than a failed program director. Most of them are. He's clueless when it comes to understanding a Country audience. Since we first debuted the song a week ago, "Have You Forgotten" has been the most requested song on my station.

Steve Warren, who consults for about 40 country radio stations, wouldn't have applauded

Very unusual for a country/western music lover to be anti American. Almost every person I talk to who loves country music is patriotic. It fits hand in glove. mr ferret ooops warren needs to study a few fair and balanced reports and try to understand what is really happening.

GREAT GREAT GREAT, post. Thanks!!!!!!! I'm going to listen to the song now.

Someone said today, of the protestors, why do they all look like they sleep in their cars? : ) Just a bunch of bums I guess who don't have to work like the rest of us so they can be out there marching in the streets to show off their stupidity.

Great work!

Actually the guy deserving credit for getting Darryl Worley's song message out to the nation is Phil Valentine, a Nashville talk show host. He started playing the dsong a few weeks ago and sent it on to Sean Hannity.

I hope more people hear the song and see this moving pictorial account of lyrics.

Thanks to each of you for your pings.
They are much appreciated!

KIXX: I have yet to hear the song on the radio here! Dunno why. Is there really an effect if a listener calls and asks for it?

El Gato: Dittos

Katya: You seem a bit warm. LOL...nice to know America still has some estrogen-go power.

P.O.E.: What does that name mean?

For listeners to really have an effect on their favorite station's playlist they must bombard them with requests. Some songs are no-brainers when it comes to adding them to the play list (like "Have You Forgotten"...unless you have no brain like the aforementioned Mr. Warren who, I'm sure, cares more about his political agenda then the welfare of the stations he consults). If a song's "on the fence" so to speak a handful of requests won't tip the balance. The station will always play it safe and stick with the song that's a proven favorite.

By the way, the release date for the cd "Have You Forgotten" has been bumped up to April 29th. Proof that this song is on fire! #1 requested song in Harrisburg, Pa. eight straight days.

I'm a little behind in my correspondence, but in answer to your question:

P.O.E. is from one of my all-time favorite movies "Dr. Strangelove". I don't want to give the movie plot away (in case you haven't seen it), but it stands for "Purity Of Essence", or "Peace On Earth."

We gotta get this CD when it comes out!

Er, that should read:
"Darling, my birthday *is* coming up soon. Could I please have this CD for a present? Hmmm?"

Kiss Kiss Kiss
