Michael Jackson Put 'Curse' on Spielberg-Magazine

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Embattled pop star Michael Jackson wears a prosthetic nose and once paid $150,000 for a "voodoo curse" to kill director Steven Spielberg despite being deep in debt, Vanity Fair magazine reported on Monday.
Vanity Fair, in an article for its March 11 edition, also reports that Jackson bleaches his skin white because he does not like being black. The 44-year-old singer sometimes refers to black people as "spabooks," the magazine said
Jackson's manager did not immediately return phone calls and a faxed request for comment on the article. Jackson's London publicist could not be reached for comment.
The onetime King of Pop has been dogged by controversy for months, first over his odd appearance in a California courtroom last November. That same month, Jackson stunned fans in Berlin by briefly dangling his young son from a hotel balcony.
And in February a British television documentary that aired to blockbuster ratings both in England and the United States caused a stir when Jackson told his interviewer that he slept in the same room, and sometimes the same bed, as young boys.
Vanity Fair reported in the article that in 2000 Jackson attended a voodoo ritual in Switzerland where a witch doctor promised that Spielberg, music mogul David Geffen and 23 other people on the entertainer's list of enemies would die.
Jackson, who underwent a "blood bath" as part of the ritual, then ordered his former business adviser Myung-Ho Lee to wire $150,000 to a bank in Mali for a voodoo chief named Baba, who sacrificed 42 cows for the ceremony, the magazine reported.
Vanity Fair reported that Jackson wears a page-boy wig and a prosthesis that serves as the tip of his nose. The magazine interviewed a source close to Jackson who said that, without the device Jackson resembles a mummy with two nostril holes.
According to the magazine, Jackson's extravagant lifestyle and declining record sales have left him $240 million in debt.
The article, which relies in part on court filings in a $12 million lawsuit against Jackson by Lee, said that since the mid-1990s the reclusive entertainer has relied on a series of multimillion-dollar loans to cover his expenses.
In addition to the lawsuit by Lee, Jackson is also enmeshed in a $21 million court battle with German concert promoter Marcel Avram over canceled Millennium concerts and has been sued by Sotheby's auction house for $1.6 million.
The magazine reported that Jackson must pay off the principal on a $200 million loan within a few years, which will be nearly impossible unless he sells his most valuable asset, the Beatles song catalog. He owns only half of the catalog while Sony Corp. owns the other half in an arrangement that might make selling his share difficult, Vanity Fair reported.
Jackson has also run up nearly $4 million per year in expenses from his Neverland Valley ranch in central California, where in April 2001 his amusement park equipment was nearly repossessed for late payments, the magazine said.

Could you please tell me why anyone with a life cares about what this seriously disturbed individual does with his life? I live in a community of 35,000 residents and there are 15 registered sex offenders. Maybe folks should be more concerned about what is happening in their own community than what Whacko Jacko is doing--ya think??

Actually, it is interesting that nobody has written about this issue. But to claim that race has anything to do with it is outrageous.

This is well beyond funny, and into the realm of the sick and tragic. Somebody desperately needs to help this man.I agree. More then anything, I feel sorry for him. Could anyone be more lost?

Living in south Ga, I thought I had heard just about every racial slur out there. I was wrong. What the heck is a spabook?
I love that! Kinda like when I went into the Marines 30 years ago and first heard the terms "Splib" (ethnic) and "Scumbag" (any Marine recruit...derogatory).

Why do you think he is being given a pass?
To: per loin
Yup. It is prison time for Jacko.
If (when!) Jacko offs his ownself, can you just IMAGINE what big bucks will be offered for the autopsy "details"??

The reason people in exclusive communities of 35,000 with only 15 registered sex offenders should care about whether a famous, very wealthy, alleged bisexual child molester, is able to prevent being charged with attempted mass murder or conspiracy to commit it, is that the more these types of people get away with crimes, the easier it will be for others to also do the same. Even in nice exclusive communities of 35,000 which may only have 15, 30, 90, 360 registered sex offenders.

More then anything, I feel sorry for him. Could anyone be more lost? Do you also feel sorry for Saddam Hussein? Do you feel sorry for all extremely wealthy alleged sex offenders who use their money and influence to engage in acts of attempted murder? If he were poor, would you also feel that someone needs to help him?

Not sure he is being given a pass. I've already pitched a story along these lines to my editor.

Kuul. Who do you write for, and do I get a footnote credit?

Shhh. Secret.

Yes, Michael Jackson is given somewhat of a pass here; not as much as some other Black entertainers, however. This is due to the fact that he has fallen out of favor with many in the Liberal press.
I can give you a pretty good example of the double standards Liberals apply to the entertainment industry. Let's take Eminem and say, Ludacris or Jay-Z for example. Now the majority of us here at FR would agree that all Gangsta Rap is horrible, and that the lyrics are reprehensible and damaging to children, correct? Well, so does Bill O'Reilly. When he mentioned how disgusting and sexist Eminem's Gay-Bashing diatribe was, there was hardly a peep from the Left; in fact, there are some Liberal journalists who actually question G.L.A.A.D.'s virtual silence concerning this artist (read "The New Thought Police" to find out exactly why). However, when Mr. O'Reilly justly condemned Pepsi for allowing the Black Rapper Ludacris to advertise their product, the Left went nuts. Why you ask? It's simply this: Black entertainers, or anyone in the realm of say, Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton, are considered sacred cows to the Left. No matter how disgusting their behavior, it is considered 'racist' to criticize Blacks in ANY way. Especially these Rappers. Somehow the Liberal Weenie Critics believe these guys (and gals) are rapping from experience, when in fact, the majority of these people (like Chuck D of Public Enemy, for example) come from well-to-do middle-class families. Before cancelling my subscription to Entertainment Weekly, nine out of ten music reviews on Gansta Rap albums by Black artists were always favorable, with their constant fawning over the "realism" of the lyrics. Yeah, right!
Neither one of you offends me on this topic, not in the least. There are many among Black America who find Ludacris, Jay-Z, Missy Elliot, and Lil' Kim very hard on the ears, and a terrible infulence on our youth. I believe the criticism Bill O'Reilly has against these guys, as well as any other questionable celebrity is needed, and I applaud him or anyone else who has the guts to stand up to the fascism of the Left.
-Regards, T.

Haven't read, seen or heard enough bizarre stories about Michael Jackson? Us neither! That's why we quite literally ran out to buy the April issue of Vanity Fair which, besides dissing Denzel, (see A-List item #3), also contains a lengthy exposé on the alleged precariousness of MJ's finances, sanity and nasal organ. Among the article's many, many WTF?! moments, the one that particularly struck us was the revelation that little Michael Jackson regularly denigrates other black people using his own personal racial slur "spabooks."
Now, maybe it was the recent passing of Mr. Rogers, or maybe it's the particular brand of spring fever that sets fire to the A-List's collective brain each year about now and leaves us as antsy as a schoolgirl (44 days and counting!), but for some reason that one-word window into Wacko Jacko's complex matrix of internalized racism/self-loathing tickled something in the part of the A-List's brain that stores memories of kiddie TV.
Last week the A-List asked, "what the hell exactly is the derivation of spabook?" a question that rattled around in our heads all week along with the word itself spabook, schwa sound, roughly rhyming with "cahoot" until out popped the time-misted memory of a younger, more innocent A-List lying on a shag rug with our siblings, soaking up television rays while watching PBS's Zoom. And then it hit us: "spabooks" is none other than the curiously retro slur "spook" rendered in Ubbi Dubbi, the Zoomers' native tongue!
For those of you too young, old, or unlucky to have been edutained by the kid-produced public television show, Ubbi Dubbi is like a post-hippie Pig Latin, a lingua franca for Zoom fans looking to talk over, under or past their parents' comprehension. Translating English into Ubbi Dubbi is easy you just insert the syllable "ub" before each new vowel sound in a word. For example, "Michael Jackson" becomes "Mubichubael Jubacksubon," whereas "spook" becomes "spubook," or, in the case of Vanity Fair's hearsay transcription "spabook!"
Another pressing cultural mystery solved by the A-List! (And you better believe it: Michael would have gotten away with it if it wasn't for us meddling kids!)

This is a while ago but do you happen to know why Jackson wanted to curse Spielberg? Does it have anything to do with The Color Purple and the portrayal of black men?
