PATRIOTS RALLY FOR AMERICA IV ON C-SPAN TODAY, 1:05 P.M. EST, 3/02/03
C-SPAN ^ | Sunday, March 2, 2003 | Kristinn

Posted on 03/02/2003 5:36:42 AM PST by kristinn

Shiver along with the D.C. Chapter, FReepers from across the country, other patriotic Americans and Iraqi exiles as C-SPAN broadcasts the Patriots Rally For America IV today at 1:05 p.m.

Recorded yesterday at the cold, fog-shrouded, snow-covered grounds of the Washington Monument, the rally held to support our troops, President Bush and the American policy on Iraq features former Rep. Bob Dornan, Aziz Al-Taee, Blanquita Cullum, John Armor, James Parmelee, Kevin Martin, Adam Ramey and yours truly.

Also featured are singers Cullen Martin, Stephanie Souders and, from Nashville, Lowell Shyette.

The program, if shown in it's entirety, should run three hours and fifteen minutes.

Get some hot chocolate ready, pop some popcorn, put on your red, white and blue sweaters and get ready to root for the home team: the men and women serving in our Armed Forces.

EAGLES UP !!!

I just arrived home in Massachusetts.

As requested, here are the lyrics to "Still Worth Fightin' For" (Stephanie Souders, ©2003), written in response to some of the arguments of the left:

"We the people" was the way it began
And for 200 years we've done all that we can
To live up to the words that our Founders conceived
We haven't been perfect, but I've always believed that...

CHORUS: We've made mistakes sometimes
We've been in the wrong sometimes
That I know
But at the end of the day I will say
America
Is still worth fightin' for

"Fascism" "Racism" some people cry
Have they forgotten that millions have died
Defending their right to speak slander and hate
Elsewhere they'd meet a most unhappy fate, Oh...

CHORUS

You can't judge a nation by a flawless ideal
Our faults are legion
But our virtues are real
It's been a fight to get right where we are
We deserve credit that we've gotten this far, Oh...

CHORUS

America
Is still worth fightin' for.

I dropped an item in announcements Kristinn, just in case. Pouring through this day's enthusiactic posts (other than the envious keyboard warriors) was a chore at best.

Proud proud day for you folks.... bless you brother.

How about a cease fire? Too much of this thread is like a circular firing squad.

Too much "friendly fire" among people who share many of the same goals.

The pattern: a first person makes an insensitive remark or at least a remark that a second person perceives as rude. The second person lashes back. The first person then attacks the second person, who snaps back. Soon FReepers are trading insults like "your Mama's so fat" and it goes downhill from there.

I've apologized for being grumpy in one of my responses where I overreacted. I don't expect anyone else to apologize.

I would ask if all FReepers would please do two things. First, carefully consider whether a possible post conveys a tone or message that is, or could be considered, insulting. Try to be as friendly as possible even in disagreeing or criticizing. Second, in reading and responding to others' posts try not to be quick to anger or to easily take offense.

And I don't intend to threaten anyone, but if people can't be more polite, I may try to bring in Jimmy Carter to mediate. :) [After all, he solved the Korean nuclear crisis & won the Nobel Peace Prize, he must be good.]

My personal thanks to all who made the Patriots Rally for America IV possible. Every one of you did a fanFReepingtastic job!

A huge Bravo Zulu! to all who attended, despite the inclement weather, and to all who spoke for America, President Bush and the brave American men and women who are serving in our Armed Force.

There were people bussed to the Ashville, NC rally today. How is that different than busing people to the anti-war rallies? I personally think it smart to go to a rally on a chartered bus if you live in an outlying area, so you don't have to worry about parking, etc.

Ma'am, FTH is a lawyer, and a good one...you, OTOH, appear to be a $#!+-faced LOSER. Sober up and come back with a better attitude and seriously consider apoligizing to FTH fer yer being soooo bitterly hateful rant.

Just 'cuz yer willing to sit on the sidelines while REAL PATRIOTS hit the streets to defend this Country we love, don't think trashing US will assuage yer self-loathing and guilt-laden GUTLESSNESS!!

No argument here...while I tend to drive up from Richmond myself, riding up in a chartered bus with a bunch of American patriots would be a HOOt, too...MUD

I had no desire to rake her over the coals. She brought it on herself.

She said some really NASTY stuff in FReepmail to me and others and made some baseless accusations that I undermined her efforts. I will not post the freepmail stuff publically.

My public withdrawal of support for her stands. Until i get a public and complete apology/retraction for what she has said, she can go pound sand.

" He's now doing to DR what he did to me: a young person demanding of an older person that they reveal their credentials and prove themselves. Tsk, tsk."

I have the same trait except that I am "older" now....

Guess I am gonna have to go for some support hose on the 11th...
