Horowitz is a true Warrior.

Anyone from the Right who doesn't support this man and his unlimited courage is no friend to America or our cause.

Encouraging signs that Horowitz was allowed to speak, serious hecklers were contained, and the U paper printed a report of the meeting.

The solution to the liberal mess can only be found in philosophy.

When people see the irrational, they must be able to recognize the irrational.

One for instance ...

The truth is whatever you want it to be.

Sounds great!
Makes you feel good!

But it's an irrational statement.

Can you explain why it's irrational?

If you can, you are prepared to fight liberalism.

If you can't, you now -- at least -- know the area you need to study: philosophy.

There are very few rational philosophers that were able to survive in their irrational surroundings. Such philosophers were usually suppressed by things like the Inquisition; and if suppression didn't work, they were usually killed

Aristotle was a rational philosopher that survived because his primary patron was his pupil: Alexander the Great.

Ayn Rand is another rational philosopher whose 20th century work surpasses Aristotle in philosophical greatness.

Ayn Rand's freedom as an immigrant to America guaranteed her survival; but liberals are still working hard to destroy her success and damn her philosophy into oblivion.

Ayn Rand presented her philosophy in many formats, but the best way to present any philosophy is in the context of a novel -- a dramatic story about people. And so it is that Ayn Rand's philosophical novel, Atlas Shrugged, is the number two best seller on earth, and it will probably -- someday -- outsell the Bible.

Where can one find speaking schedules for conservative speakers like Horowitz and others?

Way to go Horowitz bump!

Although I've only attended 1 class at the U of O, I will offer a bit in their defense. They are over run by lefties, but no more so than any other public university. It is a beautiful campus and a much cleaner atmosphere than you will get at University of Washington, USC, FSU ect. At least they don't have a statue of Lenin in Eugene. In short, it's an institution worth saving

Although the UofO was used in the filming of Faber College in Animal House, it is also the home of Bill Bowerman, Steve Prefontaine, Len Casanova and Mike Belloti. Men who well represent conservative values and work ethic if not politics.

"The University, in the liberal arts field, has been destroyed by the left."

It's true. I have a BA in history (most of which I had to teach myself, since the University was too focused on indoctrination to actual teach me anything). If my children want to go to college, I'll pay -- unless they choose a major in Liberal Arts. If they do that, they won't get dime one from me.

Mike Linman, a student senator and co-chairman of the College Democrats, asked Horowitz whether he would support a University stance supporting a war in Iraq.

The trite ploy to try to paint his opponent as a hypocrite, lame even for a college student.

Has anybody ever figured out why Horowitz calls his organization "The Center for the Study of Popular Culture," when it has very little at all to do with popular culture?

Let's play "See if we can find the Liberal Bias".

Horowitz, who gained fame at the University [of Oregon] in 2001 with his advertising campaign against slavery reparations

What? Horowitz was an unknown before that period? As a noted intellectual, and possibly the most famous former 60's leftist-turned-conservative, he only gained fame in 2001?

Conservative students, faculty members, community members and members of the campus anti-war movement all attended.

"Conservative" students need special identification in the same way that Jews needed to be identified by star of David's in Nazi Germany. What about "Liberal", "leftists", or just plain apolitical students? Did any of them attend. Legitimate "Anti-war" activitist deserve mention, of course, but what about those "Patriotic anti-fascist" activists? Oh...um...excuse me. The author probably confused them with "conservative students". Honest mistake.

This journalist tried to be objective. The story was for the most part, without anti-conservative adjectives. However, he just couldn't hide his liberal roots.

Thanks for putting this up. I think Horowitz is underestimating how long the change will take. He says one generation; I think it will take three.

**Horowitz seemed to have the harshest words for the University faculty, criticizing what he saw as their effort to indoctrinate students into a "leftist ideology." He also accused faculty of employing a "ruthless blacklist" that stifles conservative faculty and viewpoints.**

My view of U of O precisely!

I had the great privilege of seeing Mr Horowitz in person at a slavery reparations debate at my school. He was thoroughly impressive, although I do believe he weakens his case and turns off a lot of people who might otherwise listen to his points by overusing hyperbole and ad hominem attacks. Of course, I completely understand his anger.

In fact, at one point, where I questioned the moral consistency of one of his opponents, a Penn professor, by pointing to the logical contradictions he had set forth so far, the professor branded me not only a racist but an advocate of slavery (!). Horowitz had no qualms about interrupting him and telling him (since I was unable to retort due to my observance of the debate rules, not that any of Horowitz's attackers were observing them) in no uncertain terms what an intellectually and morally dishonest person he was for doing that. It was inspirational...
