Let's play "See if we can find the Liberal Bias".
Horowitz, who gained fame at the University [of Oregon] in 2001 with his advertising campaign against slavery reparations
What? Horowitz was an unknown before that period? As a noted intellectual, and possibly the most famous former 60's leftist-turned-conservative, he only gained fame in 2001?
Conservative students, faculty members, community members and members of the campus anti-war movement all attended.
"Conservative" students need special identification in the same way that Jews needed to be identified by star of David's in Nazi Germany. What about "Liberal", "leftists", or just plain apolitical students? Did any of them attend. Legitimate "Anti-war" activitist deserve mention, of course, but what about those "Patriotic anti-fascist" activists? Oh...um...excuse me. The author probably confused them with "conservative students". Honest mistake.
This journalist tried to be objective. The story was for the most part, without anti-conservative adjectives. However, he just couldn't hide his liberal roots.

Good point. I intend to describe myself consistently as "an activist for the Constitution." In addition to the schools, and public office, and civic organizations, etc., we need to recapture our language from the left. "Activist" doesn't mean just leftists. It means anyone, who believes in any important subjects, and is willing to go out in the world and work for those beliefs. That includes almost every FReeper, including me.

**Horowitz seemed to have the harshest words for the University faculty, criticizing what he saw as their effort to indoctrinate students into a "leftist ideology." He also accused faculty of employing a "ruthless blacklist" that stifles conservative faculty and viewpoints.**
My view of U of O precisely!

I had the great privilege of seeing Mr Horowitz in person at a slavery reparations debate at my school. He was thoroughly impressive, although I do believe he weakens his case and turns off a lot of people who might otherwise listen to his points by overusing hyperbole and ad hominem attacks. Of course, I completely understand his anger.
In fact, at one point, where I questioned the moral consistency of one of his opponents, a Penn professor, by pointing to the logical contradictions he had set forth so far, the professor branded me not only a racist but an advocate of slavery (!). Horowitz had no qualms about interrupting him and telling him (since I was unable to retort due to my observance of the debate rules, not that any of Horowitz's attackers were observing them) in no uncertain terms what an intellectually and morally dishonest person he was for doing that. It was inspirational...
