Qurom Call is on. Frist asked for permission to speak after the presiding officer noted that the senate lacked a quorum. From what I gather, reading the thread, the only thing Frist promised was no roll call votes. That doesn't preclude votes, quorum calls, or ongoing debate until the session can be recessed or adjourned "without objection."

I have no idea what happens in the wake of a qurom call, but one was made, and is NOW in effect.

I'm up and watching, don't make that ping too loud or you'll wake up the hubby and the dogs!

I hope Frist calls for the quorum soon, I would love to see how Hildabeast manages to survive crawling out of her coffin with no sleep. Just think of the screen captures we could get of her!

Frist was talking about the documents the Dims have asked for when Estrada was Solicitor General...while under the Clinton/Reno Justice Dept.

Just reminding the dems about the 'double standard' they're adopting by asking for Estrada's briefs.

Frist, btw, is doing a great job...not a bad orator for post-midnight reverse filibusters.

I took that mention of the Clinton-Reno Justice Department the same way you did! I think we are about to see some fireworks on this.

Believe you could have the answer to Estrada leaving the Justice Department. Have not been able to find the month he left in 1997.

I'm watching. I've gone over to the senate.gov glossary and looked up, filibuster, cloture, quorum and quorum call.

I can't make heads or tales of what the Republican Majority is doing.

Anyone still up understand what is going on now? It's almost 2AM and I think Frist will call it a morning, why?

What on earth can the Dems really gain from this? They are being hammered in the press. Their objections have been exposed. Its a pain to us but what other motive? Please don't tell me they are working from a Chirac hand book!

Estrada left the SG in 1997 so he was not there when the 2000 election occurred.

i don't think this has anything to do with preserving their press cloak 9i.e. who is delaying the senate). I think this is physological warfare...sleep deprivation until they break.

It's real simple, he's holding them to a real filibuster...by keeping the quorum calls coming, they have to stay there 24/7.

The dems keep challenging Bush to duels and keep getting wasted. With each defeat they get more desperate and set themselves up for ever bigger falls. If this keeps up, we could well be witnessing the democratic party being ripped into 2.

Hillary has the political skills of a rock, every Slick Willie catastrophe was based on a Hillary decision. She may be book smart, but in the street she's a total idiot.

The Hispanic community is a strong worker, strong family, self-reliant group of people. They're not victims in any sense, and will do whatever it takes to succeed in life; ie, they're really anti-liberals. Their voting bloc will turn decidedly more republican as this plays out. The Leahy quote and all their angry scowls on film should be played over and over...a permanent campaign for the next year. A historic blunder.

We should bring out Jeb Bush's son, George Bush III to do ads, if you haven't seen or heard him yet, he has a shot for greatness in about 20 years. The Frist Presidency will be outstanding as well.

Senator Frist wanted this all in the record tonight! I think he has fired a warning shot at the RATs -- he is playing hardball and they had better prepared to be called in at any time.
