L.A. pastor E.V. Hill dies (Force in Baptist convention, Promise Keepers movement)
WorldNetDaily ^ | February 26, 2003

The Rev. E.V. Hill, longtime pastor of the Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles, died yesterday after a bout with pneumonia and other undisclosed medical problems.

Hill, 69, was hospitalized nearly two weeks ago and was listed in critical condition and in intensive care.

A force in the National Baptist Convention and a speaker at rallies around the country sponsored by Promise Keepers, an evangelical men's ministry, Hill stood out among prominent African American pastors in championing conservative political causes. He had been an adviser to several prominent Republicans including President Reagan.

In 1999, Hill was an unsuccessful candidate for the presidency of the National Baptist Convention, one of the nation's largest African American Christian denominations.

Any man associated with Promise Keepers has to be outstanding. May he rest in peace.

A MAN OF GOD!!! He is safe in the Arms of Jesus. Influenced many lives. My daughter did some work at his church while a student at Biola University.

May God bring comfort to his loved ones in this difficult time. He was a mighty man of God and he will be missed!! He ran "The Lord's Kitchen" in Los Angeles, and helped many down and out souls. He will have many crowns in Heaven! God rest his soul.

A simple man who preached a simple Gospel in a powerful way. May God be with his family and his church.

His own son is carrying on his legacy. Preached here at 1st So. Baptist Church of N. Hollywood as a guest speaker during our birthday celebration. Real good people.

A Spirit-filled Titan is gone. I am deeply saddened by this news, but I know that Pastor Hill would tell me not to be if he could.

He's present with the LORD now. And while death does not have any sting for the Believer, it sure stings those who remain by the loss it brings.

The man could preach! Word by word of scripture, simple, yet profound messages. May God provide, new, godly leadership for his flock.

This is sad... for us.

I am thinking that (Good) Friday was sad, too...

But Sunday's coming.

He's already there. I pray God's comfort for his family.

I got to hear Hill speak at a church in DC about 15 years ago - his loss is a great one, indeed....

This is a sad loss; he was a great preacher and man of God. I know he is in heaven with the Lord, but we will certainly miss him here.

The world is a lot emptier now. I LOVED watching him on TV. I'm sure he's glad to see his Baby again.

He was a great man of character and he is home now. If I remember right he was from my hometown.
