WABI TV reported Friday that the Maine National Guard Family Assistance Center has received about 30 complaints from children of deployed soldiers concerning Principals, Teachers and Guidance Counselors reportedly demeaning the role of their deployed parent. Some children involved are 7 to 9 years of age.
Here is a letter written to a friend of mine from the Maine Army National Guard:
"Thank you for your interest on this most troubling matter. Our Family Assistance Centers have reported cases from Aroostook County to Southern Maine. We are reluctant to give out specific schools and the individuals involved in the interest of giving the education community a chance to address the problem itself. Also, parents wanted the opportunity to pursue the issue through their local school boards first.
In all, we have over thirty complaints that name schools and individual principals, teachers and guidance counselors. If one considers that these complaints come from just the parents who attended our briefings and only from children who told their parents, we are concerned that the problem may be more widespread than we know.
We are recording the complaints, and I will personally visit these educators to express our concern as a professional organization and ask for their cooperation.
Ultimately, our main concern and first responsibility is the safety of our children during these uncertain times. Maine has a core of dedicated and professional educators, but we will challenge any individual who places our children at risk due to their own political ideologies."

"..from time to time the tree of freedom must be watered with the blood of patriots." I prefer the Pattonesque phrasing "..from time to time the tree of freedom must be watered with the blood of tyrants". Said watering having been done BY patriots.

This does not surprise me!
This is the lowest form of extortion. The threatening and harrasment of a person's children.
Time for a few grand parents who are veterans to go kick some liberal a$$es from the superindents to the priniciples and the clymer teachers! This can't be tolerated!

The anti war message is not exclusive to teachers. My kids went on a church campout last weekend and one of the youth pastors made the following comment DURING the sermon: "We shouldn't be at war with Iraq. We should do something nice for Saddam Hussein."
Only one person spoke up against the statement.
My wife and I are outraged.
Any suggestions on how to deal with this?

Truth be known, if this happened to my family, I think I know how I would approach it.
I would sue the school board ( yeah, I know)for product liability. The only thing liberals understand is a lawsuit or a good tail whooping.
They provide a service ( education). They are not there to politically indoctrinate my kids, and that would be my point. The damages sought would be for mental cruelty, pain and sufffering, and their failure to provide the service I pay for with my taxes.
I dont know if it would work, but it would be my approach.

"I'm gonna take my left foot and whop you on the right side of your face and you know what's funny about it? Theres not a damn thing you can do about it." Whack! What a bunch of pricks these people must be to do that to children.

WVOM gave the story the entire segment from after the weather until the 8:00 break.
I called in, identified myself as "metesky from Bangor" and chatted it up for about 10 minutes.
One of the hosts' wives is a teacher and both the host and his wife are steamed about this.
Both hosts were surprised when I mentioned that the story had gone nationwide on FreeRepublic.com.
We had a decent chat about the perfidity of a rather large minority of teachers in general.
The big problem is that both hosts a basically scatterbrains. Although they do try, they just don't have the wattage of a Rush or even a Howie Carr.

This is very real and it makes me angry. These teachers are going after the children of people serving the flag. Those who go after the families of our military to inflict harm are giving material aid and comfort to our enemies. Absolutely no teacher, pricipal or staff member who has engaged in such behavior should be allowed near a school again. This isn't politics it is an attack on the people serving our nation. Tar feathers and a noose from one of the maples or pines should rapidly be in order for any of these terrorists playing teacher.

Let the pastor know how you feel.
It's one thing being at a church camp out. It's another thing being compelled to go to a school by the government and then having your parents insulted.

But Oh, so dedicated to Peace.

Isn't this a hate crime and the NEA should be
classified as an enemy of America?

I would ask for a meeting with the head pastor, priest or reverend (what ever the title). I would list my complaints and ask what he/she is going to do about it.
If you are treated like a criminal, for expressing your feelings, or you are ignored, you have two choices:
1. Find another church.
2. Stay and fight. The first thing I would do is to inform the head guy that the next time this happens, you will stop your pledges and donations. Then, you will urge other loyal Americans to do the same. Also, inform him that you and others will speak up in the service or where ever if this happens again.
These left wingers will do this until, we say, No More!

This will be brought to a quick halt if the veterans in these cities start screaming and protesting this terrible treatment of the children of our people in the service.
We have a cultural war here in America. If we don't battle our enemies and win, we deserve to lose.
Battles like this are not GW's battles. They are our battles.
If this happened to one of my grandchildren, my wife and priest would have to bail me out of jail. I would start kicking a$$ at the superintendent's office, then the priniciple's office and kick the teacher's A$$.
Then, I would have the local teacher's union investigated. If they were behind this, I would have them tied up in court for years. I would sue them for terrorist actions against my grand children.
Actions like this must be treated with Zero Tolerance.

Great that you did what you did.
The fact that this is on Free Republic will have an impact.
Now, this needs to get Sean Hannity, and you should contact him. He will have you on his radio show or tv show or both. Rush needs to be notified of this extortion/harrasment of innocent children of our brave military people.
