Mainly I remember his cameo appearance in an Animaniacs episode. Yakko, Wakko and Dot were throwing a party, and they pointed out to newly-arriving guests that Christopher Walken was the first guest already. He was sitting alone (looking rather creepy) on a sofa across the room and waved hopefully at the new guests - who weren't brave enough to walk closer to him!

Nope, I found a link to the Christopher Walken/Han Solo info in a Google search and since that was an authoritative source, I linked to it.

I lock the doors, tuck the dog in on the floor near us. get the alarm on and lock the doors. My husband has me set up with a 9mm (Glock, I think). And I am trained on a 9mm, so I guess that's my preference.

Christopher Walken always gets a second look from me. He is usually worth it.
He made a swarmy bad guy in the Bond movie, A View to a Kill.
He also played the widower in Sarah, Plain and Tall.
A very good actor.

Re: Blast from the Past

This was a VERY conservative movie. And a great, great movie; I love this film.

If any Freepers want to see two good romantic comedies that carry a very subversive conservative message about the virtues of the past we have forgotten, do a 2 for 1 movie night, Blast from the Past followed by Kate and Leopold.

In many ways, they're companion movies. The premises are almost exactly the same -- man from the past comes to the future to show everyone what manners and dignity are -- and they're both smart and funny. I'd bet ten bucks that the earlier film, Blast, inspired the later film's screenplay.

"Tina writes many of the anti-liberal pieces"

Are you sure? I thought it was Jim Downey who was the real conservative Republican on the SNL staff. It's Downey who writes the debate-sketches and such.

The libs on the show can't block Downey's sketches because they're acknowledged by everyone as being the best.

Downey had this cool quote in the Live From New York book. He said that often times the show was horribly unbalanced against Republicans. What many writers would do is achieve "balance" by gently ribbing the liberal politicians about being "too intellectual" or "too aloof from the common man." But he noted that that was hardly "balanced" when you were calling the other guys (the Republicans) insane, corrupt, dangerous racist criminals. Hw kind of laughed at the bias there.

And when people were surprised that he hit Gore so hard in the debate sketches, they said that the show was now "tilting to the right." Downey responds by saying NO, there's no real tilt to the right; but that his sketches are actually fair in that they hit both candidates hard, rather than always just hitting the Republican hard and gently ribbing the liberal. And that many people, therefore, take that as "bias" -- just because they've never seen an actual fairly-written sketch.

Which is pretty much what goes on with Fox News.

Walken also had that amazing dialogue with Dennis Hopper in True Romance.

Yes, and don't forget Martin Sheen's role in that movie.

How many movies/shows has Martin Sheen been in that involved him playing or being directly involved with the president? I can think of three; seems like an obsession with him.

Dead Zone: Runs for president as a nutjob
The American President: Chief of Staff to Michael Douglas' president.
West Wing: Plays the president.

Any others?

You are correct. The sound started a few seconds before her started to dance.

Oh, and I should say that while the Live from New York book doesn't say if Tina is a lib or not, it sure didn't say that she was a conservative. Jim Downey is the only prominently-mentioned conservative writer.

Ah! He was priceless in True Romance with Dennis Hopper as the Sicilian Hitman.

Another good film he stars in, Suicide Kings, with co-star Denis Leary.

OK! You've both convinced me. I'll pay more attention to him and his talents.

Now about his political leaning ---------? Or should I not let that get in the way?

I don't know what Walken's politics are, but I do know -- or at least I think I know -- that he has NEVER spoken out in favor of some liberal cause, or been at a Democratic rally, etc.

That's the role I was trying to remember. I love him for doing that- it's so bizzare.

Interesting points warhead I know Downey was the conservative and penned many of the hillarious 2000 Bush/Gore stuff but from what I know the last two years or so everything is run through Faye she is Lorne Michaels thumbs up or down to sketches I know she penned the anti-war protest skit with Mathew forgive me Mcconaughey last week. While Downey did the UN stuff. But you have to admit since Tina and Jim took over the writing duties that shows stuff has been so much better, God forbid Franken talk show doesn't work out and demands to be head writer again oh the dark days.

I never really would have connected those two movies, because I thought Bast was so much campier, and therefore funnier. K&L just took itself so seriously. In BFTP, that last scene when the son is telling Christopher Walken about how the Cold War is over is a classic.

The Cowbell skit is one of my all time favorite SNL skits. Will Farell (sp?) is hilarious! I hated to see him leave. Hopefully he will get some more movie roles. I also love Farell doing Janet Reno & George Bush...classic stuff.

Don't remind me of that loathsome pacifist parasite Sheen. What a self righteous creep.
