Im sitting here after work and pulled out the Last of the Mohicans and Im wondering what my fellow freepers like for there favorite movies. I would like more for my collection of dvds. Current and older movies? Doesnt matter what it is.
Just a little break from the daily news and politics.
I have quite a few that I like and Im looking for more. Hit me back
Ahh...it is good to find another soul that recognizes a true masterpiece.
There are so many good lines from that film..."Didn't put down enough dirt...saw that right off."
My absolute favorite is when Bearclaw Grizlap says to Jeremiah, "By my soul I swear that a woman's breast is the hardest rock the Lord ever put on this Earth...and I can find no sign on it."
Man From Snowy River
|
- | Story of achievement against great odds in turn of the century Australia and absolutely the best horsemanship in any movie ever. Also has great scenery. Kirk Douglas plays two excellent parts. |
Return to Snowy River
|
- | More of the same. Still a good story, but without Kirk Douglas. |
Iron Will
|
- | True story of achievement against great odds. About US teen who wins a 500 mile sled dog race to pay for college and save the family farm (pre-WWI). |
K-2
|
- | More achievement against great odds. Fictionalized account of the true story of the first Americans to reach the summit of K-2. The achievement of this movie was in how they managed to get some of those scenes on film? |
African Queen
|
- | More achievement against great odds, but with Humphry Bogart and Katharine Hepburn. |
Armageddon
|
- | More achievement against great odds. Kinda hokey space opera, but I can think of no better way to go than the way Stamper (Willis) went out - in a big ball of fire, with the whole world watching, while saving all mankind. |
Tora-Tora-Tora
|
- | Lest we (I) forget... |
Midway
|
- | Excellent follow up to Tora-Tora-Tora. Shows what America can do in 6 months |
Sabrina (the original)
|
- | Humphry Bogart and Audrey Hepburn. What else needs to be said? |
Popeye
|
- | The only really well done movie from a cartoon. |
James Bond (Connery only)
|
- | The other bonds were good, but Connery set the standard to high for the others. |
Swordfish
|
- | Great ending. "Our job is to make terrorism so horrific [for the perpetrators] that it becomes unthinkable to attack Americans." |
Dune (the original)
|
- | Classic SciFi. Tons better than the new version. Better villains, too. |
Highlander
|
- | Great movie. Great music. The absolute best villain ever. |
Buckaroo Banzai
|
- | If you don't understand it, don't worry. It's a dimentional thing (8th dimention, to be precise). John Lithgow was fabulous. |
Miracle on 34th St. (the original)
|
- | 2nd best Christmas movie ever. The cane in the corner was the perfect ending. |
It's a Wonderful Life (the original)
|
- | The classic Christmas movie. |
Chicks! UGH! [Slaps forehead. (Notice I didn't specify whose forehead)]
: )
I'm sure there are others, but that's probably the top of my list.
