Saddam sounds more like a Vlad the Impaler disciple to me. Vlad once invited hundreds of "influentials" to a palace for dinner, and then brought the subject of leading the Empire after he was gone. Several people spoke of how such leadership should be undertaken. Vlad departed and had the palace burned to the ground with everyone else still in it.

I've always been a tomboy, but somehow managed to lock down my high school sweetie. I don't know how he puts up with me, whatever he does I always have to try (and master) I'm getting good at stunts on the bike. Now if I could only pee standing up.....
Thanks for asking though.
And yes, I think we have the cannibal package through dish network, or something.

Well, when do they air the programs about all the other tyrants who torture their people? There could be a profile of a different one every day for a couple of months at least. Don't you know this is designed to get people all lathered up for this war? If we're going to war to get rid of the world's tyrants, we ought to start in Cuba, N. Korea, and maybe Saudi Arabia for good measure.

I've been to Cuba and talked to the people. It's not good, but it's not nearly as bad as Saddam. If you criticise Castro, you go to jail for three years. Most Cubans I met were more than willing to criticise him in private, or when they felt nobody was watching.

In Iraq, criticising Saddam is a fatal mistake. It's very clear from the accounts I've read that Castro is a piker compared to Saddam. Again, I'm not defending him or saying he's a good and just ruler; he is not. But I'd definitely consider Saddam a much higher priority.

North Korea is pretty close, though. But Saddam is supported by oil wealth and some of his neighbors look up to him. This makes him much more dangerous than North Korea, which is competely isolated.

Hope this gives you a better perspective.

Thank God that we have a leader with the moral clarity to do something about this. Saddam, prepare to die. There will not be 72 virgins waiting for you.

Saddam doesn't just kill people who criticize him. He kills people just for becoming "influential".

For an excellent summary of all the grim details, I recommend the State Department's human rights report on Iraq. It makes blood-curdling reading.

I might add that the State Department is generally skeptical about regime change and has no reason to fudge the facts. I've heard virtually everything in that report from other sources as well.

I don't know what's more chilling, that article or the seeming fact that France and Germany want to keep this maniac in power. Sadly, F & G have become a force for evil in the world.

The US military finally hunts down and kills Osama Bin Laden. Osama is lifted to the pearly gates.

There, he is greeted by George Washington. "How dare you attack the nation
I helped conceive!" yells Washington, slapping Osama in the face.
Patrick Henry comes up from behind. "You wanted to end the Americans'
liberty, so they gave you death!" Henry punches Osama on the nose.

James Madison comes up next, and says "This is why I allowed the Federal
government to provide for the common defense!" He drops a large weight on
Osama's knee.

Osama is subject to similar beatings from John Randolph of Roanoke, James
Monroe, and 65 other American patriots.

As he writhes on the ground, Thomas Jefferson picks him up to hurl him back
toward the gate where he is to be judged. As Osama awaits his journey to
his final very hot destination, he screams "this is not what I was promised!"

An angel replies "I told you if you died attacking America there would be
72 Virginians waiting for you in Heaven. What the heck did you think I said?"
