Since you know there will be invalid signatures you realistically need about 1.2 - 1.3 million signatures to have a "buffer" to ensure it qualifies.

Or, we could borrow a page from the other side's book and register our fish, dogs, dead relatives, etc. to vote and have them sign the petition. It would really cut down on the work.

I hope this recall petition is able to get the number needed just to watch the piranha on the left swarm and do their feeding frenzy on each other.

I think this answers the question? I may be wrong... it's from the Q&A section of the site:

The precise timing of the election depends on a variety of factors including when the recall proceedings against Governor Davis officially begin – in other words when a notice of intent to recall is served on Governor Gray Davis and filed with the Secretary of State.
From this point there is a 10-day period for the Secretary of State to review the petition. If there are any legal problems or concerns about wording, then the recall proponents will have 10 days to correct the petition as necessary.
Once the finalized petition is completed, the proponents of the recall have 160 days to collect the requisite number of valid signatures (897,156 valid signatures, which represents 12% of the number of voters who turned out to vote for governor during the last gubernatorial election

Very nice... but "American Independent Party?"

Isn't that kinda oxymoronic?

WHOEVER has a "D" next to his name would win question #2 in the recall by default. (Unless you can find a way to get every county on the coast to not vote). Most likely the "D" candidate will be further left than Davis (think Boxer clone)

Californians wants a socialist for the next four years. Davis did NOTHING to deserve re-election yet the vote wasn't even close. Why? He's a socialist Democrat and that's what the voters want. Freepers who can't accept that are just being Republican Sore-Loserman.

Now, if Davis has until 2006 to wreak move havok on the state, A Republican just might have a SLIM chance of winning.

Makes one wonder why the Repblicans didn't get together with Democrats and recall the imbarrassment that was Jesse Ventura in Minnesota. They must not have had that provision in their constitution. Oh well, he's been well replaced now.

Ah, but what if there are TWO "D"s? Or three? Or four? What if Ralph Nader decided that California needs him as the gov? It's far too early to foresee how this is going to shake out. Apparently anyone can get in on the action. So if the "R"s act in a disciplined fashion and just put one candidate forth, and the leftists act like a class of fouth-graders trying to shove their way onto a bus, the "R"s stand a good chance. Given the hash the "D"s have made of things lately, maybe the voters would even choose an "R" over a "D" regardless.

"Good luck people. Those of us in "Bush" (Jeb at least) country wish you good luck and God Bless. You need it with that commie in power!!!!! "

Thanks for the kind words!

We hope if we are successful (ALL of us - not just one group) that this can really wake up politicos around the nation and help inspire patriots throughout the country that when they are dupped by their government they don't just have to take it!!

Billyboy:

Ahhh - but you see it is a "free for all" meaning that there will not just be ONE "D" - there could be several. There will at least certainly be several "flake" Democrats - just as there were in the primary against Davis in 2002!

BIG problem in all of this, ladies and gentlemen. Let's assume this is successful, WHO are we going to get behind to replace Davis ? If there isn't even a united Republican effort for recall, how are we going to unite behind a single Republican ? Are we going to get behind Bill Simon ? Doubtful, a lot of the GOP blame him for running an inept campaign. Ah, but then who does that leave ? Yup, Tricky Dick Riordan, who never met a 'Rat he didn't give campaign money to. I, for one, would rather see Davis remain in office until January 2007 (or January 3007, for that matter - and yes I did mean to put in that "3") before seeing that RINO trash besmirch the office and ruin it even more than the horrid Pete "Keep Your Wetbacks Outta California" Wilson did. The latter RUINED us with the Hispanic vote in CA for the next generation. I have not seen ANYWHERE where the recall leaders have solidified behind a candidate. Even if we're successful, I think we may only end up seeing Gray Davis or Cruz Bustamante win something like a 30% range of the vote and with a seriously fractured field on the GOP side pulling up in the 20s, and we'll be right back to square one. Somebody needs to address this VERY important issue before we going any further.

You could add the Reformers, since IIRC Jesse disavowed that party as well and started his own. He probably p!ssed off more of them than he did from the major parties. They'd have reason to recall him.

But that's mute, not series anymore. Jesse's out and the GOP have their guy in.

According to the Initiative and Referendum Instute, Minnesota is one of the 23 states that have neither initiative nor referendum. Would it surprise you to find that recall of elected officials is also prohibited in the People's Republic of Minnesota?
