Davis believes the 500 Magnum has a greater potential for becoming a lethal inner-city status symbolCOMPLRTELY ignoring the fact that gang bangers simply don't carry 4 1/2 lb. $900 guns around. If having the most powerful gun was a status symbol amog gang bangers, then they would all be carrying .454 Casull's.

They should make a 20 mm magnum, then let the anti-gun nuts actually ban it so they can feel they are accomplishing something. Then they could leave us alone for a couple of years.

Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.). "I think guns are made to kill people. That's my opinion." At least he got that point correct. Now if he can only figure out what the Bill of Rights means. People have a right to defend themselves. Superior firepower is a good means to do that. Statistically speaking, I don't think that the .44 Automag (ie. Dirty Harry's weapon of choice) makes a blip on the criminal weapon's radar screen. Why would this be any different?

If memory serves me $2 box cutters were ultimately responsible for more than 3,000 deaths on September 11, 2001. Why don't we have a ban on them?

"It's hard for me to rationalize any particular need or purpose" for the 500 Magnum, said Rep. Danny Davis (D-Ill.). "I think guns are made to kill people. That's my opinion."You THINK??? You want legislation based ON WHAT YOU THINK???
OH, look for TV newscasts suddenly obsessed AGAIN with gun violence and the need for control of all thos nasty, evil, law-abiding gun owners AGAIN.
Democrats have brain damage...must be all the coke and opuim-laced Lebonese hash.

He added that its high power combined with its concealability could make it the "weapon of choice" for urban gangs. CONCEALABILITY...of a miniature cannon? What is this guy smoking?

"You don't go out hunting deer with a revolver," Davis said. Well the buck I shot with my .44 last last fall would disagree.
These people are hysterical.

Since these two bozos "think" that the weapon will be used destructively in their districts, the law should specify that NOBODY IN THEIR DISTRICTS MAY PURCHASE THE WEAPON.
There.
Perhaps the gang-bangers will sue under the 14th Amendment. Let them.

What has happened to Illinois? These two dim bulbs couldn't even function as UN weapons inspectors. "Well I don't have any real information and haven't even seen a picture of one, and I admit I don't know anything about weapons but this reporter said you could kill a large bear with one, and that scares me. Because I'm a lot smaller than a bear, you see. And anything that scares me is a military-style assault weapon. And everyone knows they're bad. We'll just ban them even before we come up with a catchy nickname like 'Friday-night fifty' or something. Yeah, that's it."

I would pay cash money to watch some gangbanger bust off a cap from his new "fiddy" caliber while using the one-handed sideways gangsta grip. Do these blissninnies understand that most of the mayhem done on the street is inflicted by small caliber Lorcins, Jennings, etc.?

The 500 Magnum sounds like a good gun to take with you to the back country of Wyoming or Alaska. Somehow, I can't see convenience store robbers or drug dealers bothering to hoist one of these around in their daily activities.

Too much idiocy contained within the story to comment about.
I think I'll get one for the hell of it. A friend of mine went to the trade show in Orlando where they unveiled this. They were giving out(maybe selling) the cartidge on key chains. Its HUGE.

The arrogant ignorance of the anti-gunners never ceases to amaze me. Like when they deny that this gun's primary use will be hunting, versus self-defense. Like when they assert that this will become the goblins' weapon of choice.
Personally, I'm waiting for S&W to come out with a version with a 3 inch barrel for concealed carry - whether you believe Fackler or Marshall and Sanow, it'll take care of any goblin you hit.

My darker side would like to see the counterpoint of the title: ".50 Caliber Revolver Targets Democrats for Nationwide Ban".
