We have much more important things to think of than this old rumor that keeps floating around.
LOL.... but it's so nice to let the Clinton's set the tone of the discussion when they so desire.... Got a chain, let's jerk it a few times and see what groups we can stir up... move the discussion away from the critial issues of the day.

"As of right now, WJC would have to either renounce his US citizenship..."No way Bubba would give up his citizenship and lose the protection of the Constitution, which he hates but hides behind to veil his crimes.

No offense, personally, but your comment is as stupid as those who said at the time,
"maybe it wouldn't be such a bad idea if Gore was elected president--it wont be a good 4 years anyhow."

The Enemy Within HILLARY RODHAM -&- BILL CLINTON's main advantage is that they are always scheming ahead while we are still focusing on their Past while ABC, NBC -&- CBS focus on neither.

I just had a horrifying thought. Can you imagine the state of the world if Bill were Secretary General and Hillary were POTUS!!!! You really should consider replacing Steven King. I am impressed with the scope of your ability to horrify.

Over the years, there have been secretaries-general from Europe, Asia, Latin America and Africa, but never from North America. Add to that fact the interesting detail that the U.N.'s towering Secretariat Building on Turtle Bay (First Avenue and 42nd Street to New Yorkers) is more than 50 years old, crumbling and is overdue for rebuilding. That takes money the kind of money only the long-suffering U.S. taxpayer can give, plus a cash-grabbing fund-raiser. Add one more fascinating fact: a well-known (notorious to most of us) American is looking for the secretary-general's job William Jefferson Clinton.
While it is still early, there is a major international move under way to make Bill Clinton the chief executive of the United Nations. Unbelievable? You had only to watch Clinton's performance on a recent "Larry King Live" program. There, Bill, with his new haircut and coiffure blued to a snowy-white perfection, made repeated adulatory references to the United Nations.
Can you imagine soaking the American taxpayers for a new UN building?! And can you imagine Bubba as secretary-general of the UN?! I see many, many FReeps ahead of us...

I recall when this was discussed while he was still in office. The Clintons in general scare me!
I not only look for him to be the Secty. general, but I look
for Hillary to be handed the nomination for democrat president. If our current president is in bad shape politically, I expect it in 2003, if he is doing good then in 2007 for 2008. She will not have to work for it as do the others.
The Clintons, both, get away with everything with the compicit help of the media.

With the possibility of Bill Clinton as Secretary General of the UN and Hillary Clinton as President of the US looming over us, how can anyone in their right mind claim that AIDS and HIV are the two most deadly scourges we face as the human race?

The UN would have to change its charter, as no member of the Security Council can lead the UN. "CHARTER OF THE UNITED NATIONS
CHAPTER XV
THE SECRETARIAT
Article 97
The Secretariat shall comprise a Secretary-General and such staff as the Organization may require.
The Secretary-General shall be appointed by the General Assembly upon the recommendation of the Security Council. He shall be the chief administrative officer of the Organization."
LINK Please tell me where it specifically states in the UN Charter that no member of the Security Council can serve as Secretary-General. Thanks.

See Chapter XV of the United Nations Charter quoted in reply #134.

Please tell me where it specifically states in the UN Charter that no member of the Security Council can serve as Secretary-General. Thanks. I'm not going to research it.
I've read, dozens of times on this very forum, that a Security Council member citizen cannot be elected Secretary-General.
But, hey, I and others could be wrong.

Regarding #50
That is well said. I especially like your comment about voting in a PRIMARY. That is where our battles belong.
I would still back the party in the general election. To vote against the party or not vote at all would be counterproductive.
I really believe we must stay interested and express our opinions NOW! They do listen more than you might realize. The "old squeaky wheel" syndrome?

No offense to you either, But putting an irrelevant man in charge of an irrelevant organization can't be anything but amusing. I don't know why we are so worried about the UN anymore. It will go to the same place in history as the League of Nations and wouldn't it be fun watching Klintoon take it there.
