They has got to be a way to shut that POS up I wish! Unfortunately, his voice is music to the press's ears.

"That is EXACTLY what they want us to do. Sit and spend money, troops waiting, making us weaker."The UN has become very comfortable with the free lunches it has been enjoying on the US taxpayer's dime for 12 years. In addition, France, Germany, Russia and China have become used to the business dealings they have been able to enjoy with Saddam...again, on the US taxpayers' dime. Now Blair has become irritated with the cost in $$$ and potential lives Britain is paying for continuing free UN lunches. Thank you PM Blair for overcoming Bubba's hold on your heart and mind.
It's time for this to end.

I've wondered how there can be any possible result OTHER than war. I mean, it's up to Saddam to prove he's destroyed ALL of his WMDs, right? How would we ever know that he had destroyed all of them? It sure seems to me that Saddam could easily weasel out of the whole mess by destroying a bunch of his WMDs in full view. The UN would claim total victory, while Saddam would still have whole heaps of WMDs that he did NOT report. And he would probably ramp up production again, knowing it would take months and years before the UN grew enough of a spine to take up the matter again.
I do tend to be cynical, so I invite comment on my above thoughts. Do you think Saddam is so confident he can get out of this situation that he is not tempted to admit/destroy part of his stock? It seems like it. I'm beginning to wonder if Freeper 'The Great Satan' is right about Saddam's using anthrax to blackmail us. What I can't reconcile is the huge buildup of forces near Iraq, though. Why would we do that if we were subject to blackmail?

Legally speaking, we've got the UN. 1441 was NOT about inspections, it IS about disarming Iraq. We are going in. The longer we wait, the greater the number of dead Americans. This just makes me ill. Agreed. But it serves our national interest to set a firm deadline and announce it ahead of time. It makes us look more reasonable and will garner us more support. Plus, I doubt we'd be ready to go in the next two weeks anyway, so we really don't lose much.
The argument about 1441 being enough is dicey. It was made very clear by countries that supported it that they did not consider it sufficient to authorize the use of force. Claiming that it amounts to a U.N. mandate makes us look weaselly. Far better to say that the U.N. didn't live up to 1441, so we'll have to act anyway. It's the more honest answer.

Russians are outstanding people - smart, funny, creative and indomitable. Don't confuse the Soviet dictatorship with the Russian people.
The way Bush operates is that he and Putin get on the phone, and they cultivate a win-win scenario. It's a "How can we help each other" skull session. Putin needs to shine, and if it means an anti-American stance ... bring it on. He'll make good under the radar.
Don't defame the Russians, Ukranians, Baltic Brigade, Georgians or any other group. Russians are awesome. There are Aeronautical Engineers, Pharmacists, Dentists and Architects driving cabs to support their families here in the U.S. It's what they do to move forward in life. They lost 50 million neighbors in a 20 year period.

Bush has no choice but to go NOW. The idiots who say "let the inspections work" will never support us no matter what, and the longer Bush waits, the less support he will have from the fence sitters. I say "go" and "go" now.
To: livius
They won't kill them as long as they are useful. I think they will just be swallowed up, as they are now. I can't see that changing, not in France. Here is President Bush. What a comfort it is to see him, especially today.
