heard the US/UK were going to offer a resolution authorizing force and that France and Russia would veto it. That sets up the irrelavance of the United Nations.
One more box to check and we can get on with it...

what you just said here -- the guy on Fox News said -- almost word for word -- I was reading your post at the same time -- it was like the Twilight Zone How do you know I'm not the guy on FoxNews?
Well, heck, I wish I would have seen it myself. Always nice to know that you're in good company.
It only makes sense, though. A deadline is something that looks reasonable, and is difficult to oppose. How can the U.N. say that Iraq must have more than two weeks to cooperate fully? Powell was dead-on accurate -- cooperation isn't brain surgery, and it doesn't take much time. If the Iraqis truly were cooperating, documents and witnesses would be flying to inspectors. Give them two weeks to make it happen, then warn the inspectors to leave.

I can't find the thread that got that all started though.
The one he posted, his commentary. I believe he also called Bush a "puke"
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
Who really gives a rip about the opinions of this group of losers? Certainly Bush won't allow a bunch of pinko commie pacivists to undermine the security and well-being of Americans around the globe, so this whole argument is a waste of HOT AIR!
To: Ragtime Cowgirl
And may I just add that President Bush 41 would but hint at a well-deserved shot at clinton (and only once or twice in eight long years) and the press would be BESIDE themselves at the breaking of "protocol" and how former presidents should not speak ill of their successors.
I repeat: It makes me sick. Not only clinton's evil undermining of President Bush, but the media's silence as he spews forth his endless commentary.

Coconut Macaroons now talking. . .
Did say something nice about Bush in the midst of the babble.

Thanks! I thought he was head of the KGB but didn't want to say it in case I was wrong. I just remember being really freaked out when I heard he was the new President.
Years ago when I worked for the Air Force we had a security briefing consisting of a movie about the Russians. They actually had a town in Russia that was patterned after a town in flyover country. There their agents learned the ways of the Americans to make better spies including baseball, etc. Their goal was to deceive Americans into thinking they were like us.
I can remember the words of Kruschev they would not bury us by weapons but basically through propoganda. The Clintons come to mind when I think of that today!
That has always stayed with me! Some things make a lasting impressing -- that was one of them.

Of course now Bush realizes who our friends are and who they are not.Is not this the entire reason for this sideshow? Get our troops in place and find out who is really on the side of freedom.
Oh and expose those dirty side deals France, Germany and Russia had going.
Remember all the screaming when Bush said "Axis of Evil"....everything is coming true. Makes you think that Bush might know something that we did not.

My clinton rant for the this hour! And a spot-on rant it is, reminding us who is directing the obstruction going on in the Senate.

Rush is great, no question about that. The French are a bunch of moronic, double-dealing, cheese-eating surrender monkeys. Powell was great today....he's really an excellent speaker when he gets rolling. We're going to kick Saddam's ass, everybody know that and the French are just throwing a temper tantrum because we're doing it over their objections.
To: cyncooper
Rush just said Clinton and the RATS are siding with the Germans - a great disservice to our country.......all because they can't stand the thought of Bush beind successful. Rush is on a roll.
To: ArneFufkin
It's Russia dammit. There are domestic and political considerations, and none are frivilous. In fact, they are daunting. I bet that if France and Germany were on board with us, Russia would be too. With France and Germany waffling, Russia has some cover for their hesitancy. They probably don't want to openly support a resolution that is certain to fail.

I repeat: It makes me sick. Not only clinton's evil undermining of President Bush, but the media's silence as he spews forth his endless commentary. Silence? More like giving him an open forum to spew his worthless comments. That Katie Couric love fest earlier this week is a case in point.

"THIS is the Clinton legacy!"
The Clinton legacy is running through
every sewer system in the U.S.
as we speak!!
To: epluribus_2
then the russians and the french will DASH to get inspectors there - parachutes if necessary to stop it. There's Powell's point, though, which we can hammer. It's not the inspectors -- its the cooperation, and the number of inspectors doesn't change the degree of Iraq's cooperation. That's all we need to say to a plea for more time. We give a deadline, and I don't think the French and Russians will serve as human shields for Saddam. They'll leave when we tell them we may be coming.
To: All
I believe we have seen the last gasps of a dying, irrelevant organization(the UN). It will go down as totally ineffective because of the handling of this crisis. And will be compared to the League of Nations.
Only a fool would continue to pay for the privilege of having countries hammer and condemn you over and over and over again. Maybe this will begin a debate to disband the UN. After all, as Powell said, Americans are responsible for our protection. If some of the countries in the world disagree, they can STUFF IT!
