The verdict is coming back too soon for anything but guilty. But I hope the jury is really lenient in sentencing.
I like that "heat of passion" or whatever it's called extenuating circumstance that will allow them to give her everything from "life" to "probation with no time served". Let the jury decide. I sort of, halfway followed this case, and what Clara put up with on that final night would cause many of us to flip out. As I tell my very well behaved husband...I don't believe in divorce, but murder? Sometimes it's justified. (don't lecture me....my tongue is firmly planted in cheek)

Didn't her daughter testify that her mom told her she "was going to hit him" just before hitting the gas?

If she's found guilty, wanna bet the environmentalists start a 'Free Clara!' movement??? I saw a TX Defense Attorney on O'Reilly say that Texas law allows for a guilty verdict and a finding for "an Act of Passion" or some similar nomenclature, that will allow for a greatly reduced sentence. she cited a case in Houston where a fellow killed his wife and her lover (shot them and left them alive, came back later and finished them off) and he got 10 months probabtion. I wouldn't be surprised if Harris gets something along these lines. A guilty verdict for First Degree murder wouldn't necessarily be bad news for her. Heck...his parents by their testimony in her favor gave the jury permission to be as lenient as they'd like.

The verdict is coming back too soon for anything but guilty. But I hope the jury is really lenient in sentencing. Lenient? She is guilty of intentionally ending another persons life, and the act wasn't self-defense. She should get life in prison or the death penalty.
To: MeeknMing
Really surprised at the responses here.
I'd let her off - justifiable homicide. Any partner who breaks the marriage vow by cheating in an adulterous affair should be run over - several times.

In Texas, if you intend to kill someone, even if it is a nanosecond before the act, it's premeditated. Murder.Yet another reason to be Proud to be Texan. A person is just as dead if you committed Murder 1, 2 or 3. If you planned it, and succeed; you fry.
