TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. -- Two Marines on unexcused leave from Camp Lejeune, N.C., were in a Pennsylvania jail Saturday night, accused of threatening to use a bomb at Camp Lejeune.
According to Pennsylvania State police, the Marines and a third person downloaded bomb-making information from the Internet and threatened to use the explosives at the base.

God bless the sister who had enough guts to turn in her brother and his cohorts in crime.

Something is wrong at LeJeune. If it was only an isolated incident then I would charge these men as traitors and get over it. However, large-scale munitions and explosives theft, parachute sabotage and drug trafficking arrests over the last two years should make any reasonable person question the internal workings of this fort. It's not just LeJeune and the USMC. A couple of years ago there was a car theft ring working out of the Naval Academy. Then there was the cheating scandal at the AF Academy, sexual harrassment charges at West Point,The Army General in Germany a couple of years back who was booted from the service for lying about his readiness state, etc, etc, etc. And these cadets are supposed to be the cream of the crop. This ain't even getting into affirmative-action promotions amongst the ranks of the regulars. The whole problem is a ugly one that in non-PC,and nobody wants to talk about it. The plain and simple fact is that a all-volunteer military does NOT work, and fudging the test results, overlooking juvenile criminal records, lowering the standards, and flat-out lying about readiness only hides the corruption,it does nothing to cure it.
Pretty soon the nation is going to have to decide between bringing back the draft and going back to the old standards,or turning our military into a homeguard unit similiar to what the French have.

Of course, if the perp or possible perp of some crime isn't Middle Eastern or Muslim, FR completely loses interest fairly quickly, Well,we could always make them honorary Muslims,as well as Dims who voted for Bubba-1. THAT oughta do it!

Wonder how they will like 10-20 years of hard labor at Leavenworth. Every day of which they will be wearing USMC utilities, with a big "P" on the back. Unless things have changed, that is.

Portsmouth Naval Prison is long closed, but still standing. Thanks. All the Marines and sailors I talked to in the 60's had nightmares about going there.

I decided Alabamians have a special place in heart's for militaryYou are right. Alabamians hold our Armed Forces in high regard.
So, not only is this guy a disgrace to the military and the Marine Corps, he's also a disgrace to Alabama.
Affirmative again. I can only hope Medders is really from somewhere else. Guess it shows there are nuts everywhere.

"I'm not familiar with military punishment, what could happen to these punks?"To err is human, to forgive is divine.
Neither of which is USMC policy.

Yeah, she sounds like a 'gate groupie'. I guess I'm just curious about the confluence of the two events; her managing to hook up with these two guys as they are deciding to bomb the place. Did SHE suggest it? If she did, I'd bet she was placed there for that particular reason, just to find some disgruntled guy going through boot camp so she could talk him into something like this.

["They were unhappy in the Marine Corps and wanted out ..."] Well, they have certainly accomplished that. Wonder how they will like 10-20 years of hard labor at Leavenworth
It makes no sense to say the were unhappy in the Marines. If they were just unhappy they had only to go AWOL. This indicates they had other plans--there was another reason for their attempts to set off explosives at Camp La Jeune or in Jacksonville.
You can bet the pc media will not look deeply at this.

You can believe that the line cutters positively without a doubt - realize they've shit in their own Easter Basket...and they still have to eat it...
Those bastards and the clowns they just caught - threating to bomb the place, will receive appropriate attention.
They WILL be broken men if they ever see free sunlight again..
I would LOVE to have a tape recording of the "Welcome
Wagon Speech" they get from the Gunny that "receives" them at the Brig.... The NCOs are probably conducting a lottery to get that "opportunity"..
There are some VERY large, proud, dangerous and unforgiving NCOs - in that MOS - and they really despise bastards that break the brotherhood bond of trust, or bring shame to the Corps...
D.I.s on both coasts will "discuss" these bastards with their recruits.....

unexcused leave Unexcused leave? What the hell is "unexcused leave?" You are either on leave, in which case you are "excused" - Or you are Absent Without Leave (AWOL) and headed for deserter status.

Actually, it looks like they were busted under civilian jurisdiction but since the crime was conspired to take place on the base they may yet end up in military court.
Leavenworth has both a military and civilian federal maximum secuirty penitentiary...neither of which are terribly pleasant from what I hear.

If i was betting, I'd say NOI. Maybe Calypso louie should be brought in for questioning if they turn out to be NOI.

Well, that makes a total of two of you, out of how many FReepers? And if it were the case, it would mean exactly what?

I don't know what it means to the other guy, but I've just noticed that whenever something unusual happens, some Freepers jump to the Islamic conclusion when there are no facts to indicate it, and even when the facts indicate otherwise.
Usually followed by some variation on the Nuke Mecca And/Or Medina theme.
I'm glad our leaders have more wisdom than some of the posters I read on FR.
And before the flamers start, I SUPPORT President Bush, and I SUPPORT the War on Terrorism. I just get a little tired of the kneejerk reactions by some here (who are a minority to be sure, but a rather vocal one).
