I think I remember that the misprounciation meant 'dunkey' and was meant as an insult and message.

Me too. "Horse's A$$" or some such thing.

I'll tell you what's frustrating me this evening. The boot-licking dunkey is coming through for "Ja-Hans" & causing him to describe their cooperation as significant. Like, STOP, he's cooperating now! He's tossed us several bones! And of course, the game would go on... if the President hadn't already declared it over (THANK YOU!).

If I was POSITIVE that we will go in get rid of Saddam, get rid of his military, and not have someone worse, I'd be more for it. After leaving him in power last time, I've lost some optimism. Anything less than taking Saddam out will be really disapointing to me.

I'm just not sure if we are going to take him out, or going to disable his military.

I'm definitely for getting rid of him. Just not sure how we should do it.

I'm sure there are plenty of iraqis hoping we attack as well.

I saw Ron Silver and was surprised at his pro-American stance. Happily surprised.

Don't worry Airbus tails seem to fall off on their own.

I know plenty of airline mechanics that think so... (United and Jet Blue)

There are at least 2 on FR, but I don't think I've ever seen them on those airbus threads we had...

Totally agree with you, Peach. If anything, the longer we wait, the longer it gives France and Germany time to move their obstructionist plan to set up a semi-permanent inspections regime backed by "UN soldiers." (Of course, there are no such forces unless the member states supply them, but why quibble.) The U.S. and Britain are likely to veto any such plan. But the real harm comes in strengthening the hand of those who whine about "unilateral" action. This is a gambit by France and Germany to protect their huge financial interests in Iraq, as well as to dominate the EU. Here's hoping France and Germany have waited too long, and that Bush and Blair will give the order very soon. Any plan that leaves Hussein and his gang in power is no plan at all far as I'm concerned.

I have a question. When we start attacking military targets where chems/bios may be stored, what happens then? Do they get dispersed or is the explosion enough to incinerate everything making it a non-threat?

Would we also want to "preserve" some also as evidence to the nay sayers?

Thanks.

If he starts setting the wells on fire - couldn't we just then wait for his country to fall apart from the lack of income?

I suspect we're looking at early March. Among other considerations, the British press has reported the 7th Armored Division won't be loading its tanks at ports in Germany until this weekend and will need a couple of weeks on the ground before they're ready.

If we don't take out Saddam AND the weapons and stay around a while to monitor things, I'll be deeply disappointed as well. That's the only part that isn't being shared with us and for reasons I understand (I think). If we have someone in mind, we don't want to telecast that to Saddam or that person and their family is toast. Tom Brokaw said the other night that when one can get everyday Joe's away from their handlers in Iraq, they are begging to be released from the hell they've lived under for years. The book The Threatening Storm, by Kenneth Pollack, received a Foreign Council Policy award and is excellent on the subject. Pollack is considered one of a few worldwide experts on Saddam and Iraq and well worth the read. Regards, Peach

This is perfect timing.

First the Orange alert.

Then the airspace changes around Washington.

Now the 48 hour alert.

It's all falling into place.

No matter what, there are so many conflicting signs out there now that Saddam won't know whether he's coming or going. Hehehehe..

GW doesn't give a rat's behind for the UN, France, or Germany.

The best move would be to strike while the collectivists stare at their navel. That way, they have no say after it is over.

The time is now.

"But the key is when does that 48 hours start? Now, or Valentine's Day, or March 1st...

Exactly .... Or next Christmas... I don't think it will be before Friday, unless B & B know that Blix is going to tell the UN that Sadam has finally seen the light and is cooperating fully.

Drudge needs to update this story soon.

Lately he's had a lot of "DEVELOPING" stories that turned out to be garbage. Or just disappeared.

Heck, ostriches are fiercer warriors than the French. An ostrich can rip you from stem to stern with one nasty kick. The French, on the other hand, would run from stem to stern with one hint of trouble.

You could be right about early March, but considering it's tanks we're talking about, they won't be needed until the air war is over (ten days or so after the start probably). Having said that, perhaps a military person could explain why we would need/want tanks prior to the end of the air war.
